Pelvic Girdle Pain - need some support please

I posted on here a couple of days ago following a very uncomfortable weekend of fibroid issues and sore hips.

It's now escalated and I'm pretty sure it's PGD/PGP. I have had several horse accidents over the years and all of the accidents hurt my right hip in some way. My pelvis is twisted and raised and I've been seeing a chiropractor after my last accident (2 years ago) when I couldn't walk in the mornings.

So now I'm in a whole new world of pain. My hip is constantly aching and sometimes makes me cry out in agony with it. I've been given dihydrocodeine to take as and when I need it (obviously normal rules apply - not exceeding stated dose etc) and paracetamol. I've been warned by my midwife not to rely on either medication as long term it's not good for baby :(

Can anyone help me with pain management ideas or what they did if they suffered?
I was unable to get into work this morning - I made it to my station after an incredibly painful train journey in and then was sick on the platform. I broke down and cried and had some help from a lovely lady who calmed me down and I got on a train back home. Thankfully DH was home today so he can help me move, look after dogs and make food.

I'm self employed so every day I miss i don't get paid which makes me worried.

I've ordered a lovely pregnancy ball to sit on and a hot beady thing to wrap round the sore bits...

Just need a little support really!

Thanks :)

Thanks again everyone. I've been sleeping at night a bit more successfully up until last night. The pain would kick in 30mins before I could take anymore pain killers! Just sat waiting for 6am to take some more.
I managed to go up to see my pony yesterday but that trip wiped me out so have signed off of work completely for this week now. I can't see how I can travel into london if i can't spend 40mins in the car!

I had a long chat with an acupuncturist who trained as a midwife and has said she might be able to help manage my fibroid pain. I'm seeing her next week.

Re pillows - I've been using pillows from the sofa and they've been more effective than my pregnancy pillow as I don't get tangled up in them! If they are working, is it worth getting a different style of pillow?
I love the idea of the Snoozle! I think I'd need one on the underside of the duvet for it to work properly :-/

I'm a bit confused as to why PGP sufferers end up in crutches? Acupuncturist also warned me of this... I'm not struggling to walk - in fact that's the only time it doesn't hurt! Walking tired me out but I'm not limping. It's only when I sit and lie down that I really suffer. I assume that those who end up in the crutches have it far worse than I do?

My fibroid pain had almost gone away last night... I had next to no complaints from it - but that was overshadowed by the maddening pain from my hip :( this morning, both hip and fibroid are very sore and I even woke up lying on my back which is very odd! My worry with the fibroid pain is that it hinders my movement and it's pulling me forward as stretching and leaning back hurts a lot - this can't be any good for my hip! I also think that wearing a support belt is just going to hurt as currently I can only wear my pj bottoms as everything else feels too tight :(

Just a small update then!
Thanks for all the replies... Tell me it can get better?! I desperately want to get back to work so that I qualify for some sort of maternity pay... Argh!
X

Tmi warning - 30mins after taking my tablet, I threw up :(
Any ideas? Should I call 111? I'm home alone today :-/

Was it codeine/cocodamol? If you took it on an empty stomach that is probably why it came back up.

lilwelshyrs · 19/06/2015 08:50

I took the dihydrocodeine at 2am this morning, so possibly. Feeling fine now. Argh, so frustrating!

I have pgp so bad that I am now house bound. If it's only the beginning acupuncture helps some (hasn't with me) and pelvic floor muscle exercises. Also et yourself a support belt and crutches (in case walking is really bad) have lots of baths and get your partner to massage you. Also sleep with a pillow in between your legs these may help. Only a few suggestions!

lilwelshyrs · 19/06/2015 18:11

Oh gosh, Abby. How far pregnant are you? Have you got long left? I fear that the support belt will make my tummy uncomfortable with the fibroid in the way Confused

I have had a much better day today. I even managed to walk my dogs with my dog walker! My big dog can be quite reactive so it was handy walking them with someone so that if she reacted at another dog, she wasn't jarring me to one side. I still can't do more than 4 hours without paracetamol which I know is on the low end of the time between dosages... But at least I'm not relying on the dihydrocodeine anymore! And no more vomiting since this morning so it must have been the di..codeine at 2am which made me react.

Dihydrocodeine for making some people sick, unfortunately lilwelsh.

Loads of really good ideas under the practical suggestions section of the pelvic partnership website if you haven't already found it.

www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk

I'm just about to order a grabber to save on bending over, such a great idea I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner ( although it's likely to be nabbed by my toddler, hopefully will convince him to clear up his own toys!)

lilwelshyrs · 20/06/2015 22:52

A grabber is a fab idea! Turn it into dinosaur jaws and then no doubt your LO will want to clear his toys up Grin

Have had a breif glance at the website - will do some sunday reading in the morning, thank you :)

I managed a good few hours out of the house today! Going to see if i can drive tomorrow, fingers crossed!
