Maternity Pay what does your employer offer?

cathing · 04/06/2015 12:39

I am trying to benchmark my company's maternity policy when it comes to "topping up" statutory maternity pay and am wondering if you don't mind telling me who you work for and what enhanced maternity pay your employer currently offers. All answers will be very much appreciated!

If you would rather not give your company name, please could you tell me what region of the country you are in? I work in the East midlands so I imagine companies in London etc...may offer better benefits?

Big pharma in Luton. 18 weeks full pay, 18 weeks SMP. Pension, car and health insurance continue over mat leave

Archer26 · 05/06/2015 16:09

I'm in the E.midlands working in local government. I get 6 months full pay, 3 months of SMP or half pay, whatever's lower and then 3 months of nothing. I'm currently on month 2 of maternity leave at the moment.

Again I realise I am very lucky.

avocadotoast · 05/06/2015 16:13

Legal minimum. 3 days full pay, 6 weeks 90%, then SMP for the remaining 33 weeks.

I work for a charity in Yorkshire. Employs just over 1,000 people I believe.

Raffertys · 05/06/2015 16:29

Transport industry. National company but I'm based in London.

6 months full pay
13 weeks statutory

Rose85 · 05/06/2015 16:40

London
PR agency
6 weeks @ 90%
6 weeks @ 30%
27 weeks SMP
13 weeks unpaid

Plus holidays and benefits

FeelTheNoise · 05/06/2015 17:36

What happens if you choose not to return?

formerlyofLadysmith · 05/06/2015 17:43

NHS in the NW. AS it happens I haven't been there long enough to qualify so am on maternity allowance, but if I had been it would have been 90% for 6 weeks then SMP.

My friend is a journo on a national paper, she gets 6 months full pay then SMP for 3 months then nada.

Allthefours · 05/06/2015 18:13

I'm East midlands, local government. We get:
6 weeks 90%
12 weeks half pay plus SMP
21 weeks SMP
13 weeks Nil
If I take the half pay option have to agree to return for period of 3 months but can be part time otherwise would have to pay back. It's certainly a better deal than when my other children were born!

MissTwister · 05/06/2015 18:56

Marketing - London
18 weeks full pay
Then SMP up to 9 months
Nothing for last three
Paid all holiday and benefits/ pension paid throughout

BurkeyBabyNo1 · 05/06/2015 19:08

I am in London. And I have 22weeks full pay and the 30wks unpaid. I am very lucky! X

TreeSparrow · 05/06/2015 21:56

I work for a London university.

18wks full pay
8wks half pay
13wks SMP
then 13wks unpaid

Must return for 3 months or you have to repay. Upon return you get an extra week's pay in your monthly salary each month for eight months as a kind of bonus for coming back. There are also options to take your accrued leave at the end or as a payment so that all helps.

Jelliebabe1 · 06/06/2015 09:12

Large multi national company, greater London.

20 weeks full pay, 19 half pay, last 3 months SMP. Pretty happy with that!

cryingbabymess · 06/06/2015 11:07

Allthefours I'm the same as you....

Public sector, Scotland (N.E) get 6 weeks 90% then 12 weeks 50% and SMP then 21 weeks SMP then nothing for the rest. I'm taking up till I stop getting paid then using about 6 weeks annual leave to take me back to full pay before returning. Got to stay for a minimum of 3 months if not then got to pay back money!

flossy101 · 06/06/2015 11:18

North west
Mid sized not for profit organisation
12 weeks full pay
8 weeks half plus SMP
remainder SMP

get car allowance throughout

worriedmum100 · 06/06/2015 11:30

Public sector I'm London. If you've employed for a year at the time you go on maternity leave you get 6 months full pay (which incorporates SMP), then 3 months SMP followed by 3 monhs of nothing.

milliemanzi · 06/06/2015 11:54

Wow I thought the NHS was pretty good but some of these packages are amazing!

PrincessOfChina · 06/06/2015 12:00

West Midlands
Global Snacking Company
90% for 6 weeks
65% for remaining 33 weeks
Keep all benefits, including car and bonus accrual

Has to be paid back if you don't return or leave after 6 months I think.

MrandMrsW · 06/06/2015 12:06

Same as you pegster! Vet in a large corporate practice - SMP only.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 06/06/2015 14:47

Dentist, SMP only. I don't know if any colleagues who've taken longer than 6months, I'm taking 4.

LBOCS · 06/06/2015 15:03

National construction company - 12wks at 90%, remainder of statutory time off at SMP.

No minimum qualifying period and no repayment requirement.

Crumbelina · 06/06/2015 19:55

Market research company, London:

6 weeks full pay
33 weeks double SMP
Rest unpaid up to a year
2.5k bonus if I go back within a year

Kasey86 · 06/06/2015 20:07

I work in the south west and my employer offers 3 months full pay and 6 months at 2/3 of pay. Along with SMP. I think you have to be employed for 2 years before it starts and when you end ML you have to go back for a year to qualify for the enhanced package.

toohardtothinkofaname · 06/06/2015 20:23

North East; 2 months full pay, 2.5 months half pay + SMP. 4.5 months onwards just SMP

DimpleHands · 06/06/2015 21:26

Big NY law firm (in London). 18 weeks full pay, the SMP.

mrshjb · 07/06/2015 00:47

West Yorkshire- 13 weeks full pay, 13 weeks half pay plus stat, 13 weeks stat and then last 13 weeks with nothing.
