Sex and orgasms in early pregnancy

It's ok, right? With a previous MC? I'm trying to be pragmatic and think that if something was going to happen, a shag or an orgasm wouldn't cause it Hmm

Perfectly safe unless you've been told not too. I personally didn't until about 10 weeks as I was constantly on knicker watch and was still scared when we did but all was fine and now 32 weeks

Brummiegirl15 · 02/06/2015 20:15

I was specifically told to refrain until after 14 weeks but only because my first miscarriage was the morning after having sex.

I think it was advice to make me feel better. But then mc's 2 and 3 I didn't at all and still lost!!!!

So I'm refraining but counting down the days until wk 14

Thank you both Flowers

Totally fine, and usually encouraged.

sarkymare · 02/06/2015 20:36

Sex if perfectly fine right the way through pregnancy (Unless of course you have been put on pelvic rest)

Shag away love. shag away.

Raffertys · 02/06/2015 20:42

siani I was pondering that...I was pretty desperate sorry and feel so much better now so surely my body was telling me something? Our bodies are clever; if it was going to be hugely detrimental to the baby then I can't imagine my body being so erm...up for it.

sarky thank you and no I haven't.

FYI don't be surprised if orgasms cause Braxton Hicks - they happen every time with me!

Orgasms are great for your pelvic floor, so I'm considering them necessary exercise. Way more enjoyable than endless kiegels. They also increase blood flow , and healthy hormones , so they're good for baby as well. :)

Sian

I'm still peeing myself when sneezing, so clearly need more!

Hodds89 · 03/06/2015 10:40

Hi in my opinion sex is so much better when pregnant!!! I had my honeymoon at 13 weeks and I didn't let the fat twin belly get in the way!!! Wink

sianihedgehog · 03/06/2015 11:13

Number3 get your other half working on it! :P

I had 4 MCs before having my baby, was never recommended to stop having sex. In fact the doctor told me it definitely wasn't a contributory factor. Let's face it, if sex & orgasm commonly caused MC then the human race wouldn't have got far.

Went on as normal in early pregnancy with this one, it was all fine. Improved, if anything Smile

Only1scoop · 03/06/2015 12:47

Both my MMC were detected shortly after having sex once so I have a phobia about it.
Coincidence I'm sure though.

Electroswing · 03/06/2015 13:02

Same with my first, only1. That's when the doctor said it was v. unlikely, because I was worried.

I guess if you've got an active sex life you're likely to have had sex around the time of an MC, so it's a common worry that the two are connected, esp. with the action being so close to the womb. But I do think MCs just happen - and just happen a lot - and where there is an underlying problem, it's very rarely to do with sex.

For me it was a blood clotting issue, which is quite a common cause of recurrent MC.

Brummiegirl15 · 03/06/2015 18:55

I think for me it was definitely advice just to reassure me. And I've taken it literally!
