Hospitals bags - your most useless contents

So there's lots of talk about hospital bag contents all over the web. Great big long lists of things that are apparently essential. I thought it'd be a bit of fun (and possibly help ftms) to start a thread that lists the items you were told to pack in your hospital bag but proved totally useless and redundant.

For me, it was a specific outfit to labour in; got to hospital, clothes came off because it was just too ruddy hot. Who cares about dignity when your bits are on show to a total stranger or five?!

These are fab.
I obsessed about hospital bags for both my DC - for weeks I meticulously packed and unpacked!
I had three bags in fact - labour, baby, and me post baby. Never been one for packing light.
With DD I used a reasonable amount of what I took, including make up, though the homeopathy kit was definitely not remembered.
Didn't stop me packing it again second time. Just in case.
But I had a speedy arrival and an unplanned home birth - poor DH put all three bags into the car only to have to run and get them all out again about 30 mins later. He was so flustered I don't think he had a clue what was in them. I marvelled about a week later that they were still all packed and pretty much untouched. Grin

I packed the changing bag (nappies, baby clothes) and added pants, pads, hairbrush, socks, leggings/ t-shirt to sleep in, lots of change. I forgot my camera.
If I get to go again I'm adding headphones and an eye mask should I need to be in overnight.
Anything else got left in my bag in the car with both dd's. Each time my ex look confused at being asked to fetch it. (He couldn't seem to understand I might want a change of real clothes, toiletries or ny kindle.

never got the chance to use my hospital bag...ended up havin a home birth...not planned...and i think honestly after i had it, id do it all over again, home birth was definitely easier, unless you have to have an emergency section, and no flappin around at home either, u no where everything is, although 7 and a half hours of labour, felt like a lifetime...but honestly I highly recommend a home birth to anyone really, it was the best unplanned decision ever made.

Despite having a straight forward labour my little girl ended up in intensive care for a week. I used everything in my hospital bag and more, it's always best to be prepared. Snacks and drinks where very much appreciated during such a difficult time as I didn't have the energy to think about getting food from somewhere. And using nice shower gel cheered me up just a little bit x

Clothes to go home in, hmmm, no one told me I would still look and feel very pregnant and that I should just bring clean maternity clothes, I ended up going home in an ugly pair of trackie daks and a hideous Jumper, the lovely dress and new underwear stayed right where they were in the bottom of my bag. Labour outfit ( something that could be disposed of if it got too messy) HA I could not stand having anything on my skin it was sooooo IRRITATING I was naked all four times, with the first one, the Midwife said "Do you mind if a few trainees watch" No I don't mind I said thinking 2 or 3, try 5 trainee midwives and 2 4th year nurses on top of the 2 nurses and 1 midwife I already had, oh and 3 obgyn interns dropped by to watch too, the one thing you should not bother taking with you is your modesty, that goes out the window the second you start screaming. My partner was embarrassed not me.
