I only started my job 7 months ago so I'm not looking forward to telling work. I know I need to cuz of safety etc so when did everyone tell their employer?

I told my manager early on as I had a scare in work and had to go to a+e.

I announced it to everyone else after the 12 week scan.

I've had a good reaction from most of my colleagues. The company CEO hasn't spoken to me since I announced, but it could equally be because he's incredibly busy and not that he's 'disappointed' in me. It's hard to tell!

I'd say tell them as soon as you feel comfortable.

Technically you can wait as long as 25w before you tell them, but obviously you'll not get paid time off for ante natal appointments (unless you're paid for appts in general) until you do.

I'm putting it off for a while but have told HR so medical appts aren't a problem.

I'm telling work on Wednesday which will be exactly my 14th week I'm scared too as my work is fixed term till end of sept but there was scope to keep me on permanently but fear this is going to change their minds. I'm due early dec so qualify for Smp which is great but still fear if I'm jobless once baby is here :-) will let you know how it goes on wed ??

The first time at 8 weeks because I was so sick. This time I'm waiting until closer to 25 weeks

CuppaSarah · 31/05/2015 16:36

I told mine as soon as I knew because I couldn't safely carry out the same job. At 9 weeks somehow everyone knows! Which is annoying but OK as they all are looking out for me.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 31/05/2015 16:41

I meant to say it does depend on your job OP. If it'd be unsafe in any way then better to tell them earlier. Mine is desk based so the only risk is sitting on my arse all day!

I work in a care home. I work nights to which I think is going to be tough. I'm scared of leaking out and the manager not actually hearing it from me Hmm maybe I should have a quiet word with her this week. I know they'll have to do a risk assessment but I'm guessing that's it?

I've only been in job 5 months and told them at 7 weeks because I tool a sick day because I felt so awful. They were great about it too. Good luck xx

I told my manager at 17 weeks but only because another colleague pulled me aside in the morning and said I was looking a bit bigger round my middle and that it was so obvious. To be honest I'm surprised I got away with it that long and I thought it was funny that I'd been rumbled!
