Second baby kicks less!

I am pregnant with baby number two!

My first was a right wriggler (still doesn't sit still). I remember him kicking constantly.

This time around, she seems much quieter. She will have one or two active periods in the day and often quiet for the rest of it other than odd little movements!

There's only been a handful of days I wound say she's been very active! It's more like rolls than kicks..

The only thing I can think of is that.. My son wasn't a big baby (under 7 pound at 2 weeks late) and this one is measuring ahead so maybe she has less room than my son did?

She is moving lightly now but had even quiet since this afternoon..

Any advice?

DD1 moved constantly in the womb and still can barely sit still.

DD2 was much quieter, though her kicks (more like pushes) were stronger. She is a quieter child (and stronger).

DD3 was something in between. She definitely isn't a lively as DD1, but livelier than DD2.

DC4 is due in a few weeks and is quieter like DD2, and seems to be a creature of habit already, with most movement being in the mornings and evenings.

Don't worry about it. I really do think that you see a child's personality from as early as in utero kicks! As long as the baby is moving regularly and there is no sudden change to their pattern, everything is fine. Also, bear in mind that the position of the placenta can affect how much you feel of the baby's movements.

Ds1 was a right wiggler saw, every movement, he used to somersault and you could watch his bottom/head slip from one side to the other he was 9.9

Ds2 not so much big movements but plenty of little kicks, much more chilled out. He was 9.6

Both had anterior placentas.

Remember they are individuals, and normal is different for each pregnancy. If you are worried do talk to your midwife

Do you know if you have an anterior placenta? That would be a common reason for the pattern of movements you describe- the baby would still be kicking the same, but the placenta acts like a cushion at the front so the movements feel softer and you only feel the strongest ones. I have an anterior placenta this time and didn't last time- I'm now 36+5 and feel a lot of movements but didn't feel much at all until about 24 weeks and found the movements very much reduced compared to my previous pregnancy until about 32-33 weeks. I wasn't actually told I had an anterior placenta but noticed it mentioned on my 16 week scan report (I had gone and looked at the report to see if it mentioned where the placenta was as I was worried about not having felt any movements by 18 weeks). Even if your placenta isn't at the front, each baby has their own pattern of movement. The important thing is to get used to what this baby normally does so you can let your midwife know if there is a change from the usual pattern. I agree it is worrying though when you don't get the constant reassurance that you would from a very wriggly baby.
