This morning seemed like not much movement going on, then had lunch and lay down on side and some good movement. Fell asleep for few hours and very little movement since. He is normally active at this time - what to do :(

if you are worried give your mw a call. To put your mind at rest. in the mean time make a note of when you feel something.

Has there been a change in your ruotine that you may not have noticed the movement?

im sure all is well but why sit an worry.

TheoriginalLEM · 20/05/2015 19:49

a warm bath always woke mine up.

icclemunchy · 20/05/2015 19:51

Deff call midwife or maternity triage. Dint leave it. Not trying to scare you but a reduction in movement can be the only sign of s problem.

9 times out of 10 it's fine but not worth the risk of not getting checked

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/05/2015 19:51

Have you drunk iced water or juice, that can wake them up?

Essexgirlupnorth · 20/05/2015 19:51

Give your maternity unit a call they would rather you went in to get checked than sat at home worrying

Muchtoomuchtodo · 20/05/2015 19:53

Call your MW or maternity unit, meanwhile drink a cold drink and note down any movements that you do feel.

I'm sure your LO is fine, but it's always best to check
Xx

Def call your midwife. Even if you feel movement is back to normal it is worth getting checked out.

seamistbythesea · 20/05/2015 19:54

Yep, thanks guys, that's made my mind up for me. Going to give them a ring now. This time of night I can usually watch my belly move - I'm just getting a few faint movements.

I had this last week at 28wks. Called midwife and went in to be checked first thing a.m. All was fine and movements started up in earnest that afternoon. She said drink iced water or crunch ice if worried in future as can get them going again.

S2b16 · 20/05/2015 21:35

I hope you've rang up and been seen. Don't ever question yourself over calling them, our hospital really encourages it. I went last week and as soon as I went on monitor, I kid you not, he went crazy-made me out to be a liar (I'd tried cold drinks, baths, tickling him, laying on side), little tinkers. Anyway the midwife said to just put a little pressure on top of stomach where the strap for monitor was and ive tried a few times since and he's kicked every time.

MummyPiggy87 · 20/05/2015 21:38

Hope all is okay x

seamistbythesea · 21/05/2015 12:43

All was fine :)

Can I just say that in my hospital more than 1 report of reduced movements changes your risk
Level and your birth will be consultant led. Ruling out midwife centre, you'll have to wear a monitor throughout labour etc.

For this reason I would try cold
Drinks, hot baths. Lie
On your left side for a good period of rest etc before attending monitoring (which is what will happen when you call midwife)

As it happens I did have birth complications which may well have been related to the reduced movements BUT I was sure about the situation when reported, not casually thinking I may as well. I was devestated when I found out I couldn't have the birth I wanted due to my reports. There better safe than sorry and then there's "may as well get it checked" and if you're the latter it's worth considering the consequences further down the line.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 21/05/2015 13:49

Glad everything is okSmile

rallytog1 · 21/05/2015 14:15

Yes, Diamond, but surely losing the ability to have a mlu or water birth is worth it to make sure there's not a problem with the baby?

The last thing women need to be told is that they should ignore changes in movements because they don't want to lose the option of a natural birth.

MissTwister · 21/05/2015 14:24

SeaMist I am 30 weeks and have no pattern at all - which makes all this monitoring very hard. Baby is active at different times every single day and some days much quieter than others, I just try and make sure I'm thinking about it every couple of hours and that I have felt something!

icclemunchy · 21/05/2015 14:24

Never ever ignore a change in movement. I had 3 episodes turned out to be absolutely fine with my youngest. Then I had a 4th resulting in a crash section and her needing to be resuscitated. Had I not been checked when I was she would have died.

All the MLU births in the world would never had made up for that

icclemunchy · 21/05/2015 14:25

Glad everything's ok though OP Smile

Diamond23 · 21/05/2015 16:00

It's not about ignoring, it's about taking reasonable steps first. There is a happy medium between ignoring and getting yourself straight on a monitor.
