I've been getting pain right down low, in what I'd call my pubic bone, since about week ten. I mainly notice it at night. I like to sleep in the recovery position (one leg bent right high up, one straight), so stopped doing this and found that it helped for a short while. However, it's now getting quite a bit worse, even though I make sure to keep my legs together in the night. It hurts a fair bit during the night and keeps me awake, no matter how I lie or what I do. It feels like knife jabbing into me. I sometimes feel it when I'm walking, but not often. I've also noticed that I sometimes have a numb feeling in my bits, I stand up and can't feel the bit between my legs anymore! Could this be related? I'm not going to see my midwife for a little while and don't particularly enjoy talking to her or have much faith in her. Will this get worse and is there anything I can do to help the pain? I'm only 17 weeks and never experienced this with my first.

Sounds like it, I'm afraid. Skip the MW and go straight for a private Physio (if you can afford it) who specialises in women's health or pregnancy. Other options are osteopath or chiropractor, but I'd try to find a good Physio as first choice. If you're in London pm me for recommendations of people who've helped me...

And no, won't necessarily get worse. But may well do if it goes untreated for too long.

Sounds like it.

I went to my mw and got referred quiet quickly. It didn't get any worse in the inbetween time, so still fairly mild. I had my first appointment today and the physio gave me some exercises to do and explained why I was getting some pain, which actually helped me understand a lot of why was going on in that area. I will be on her books now til baby is 3 months old (I'm 27 weeks at the mo) and can call up and boom another appointment if I need it either before or after baby is born but feel much more confident I can manage day to day (ie work plus 2 other DC) now I've been looked over, had a chat and been given some pointers.

Thanks for the replies, I've always (mistakenly Blush) thought that sod was pain in your hips! Unfortunately, definitely can't afford to go for private physio, but thanks for your offer of recommendations. Perhaps I will call doctor or midwife then. I ignored it at first and thought it would just go away, but am concerned that it could cause quite a bit of pain as I get bigger. How long did it take for your first appointment to come through, newtonupontheheath?

I went at the end of April and got a letter the same week. Had to ring and arrange my own appointment, so got to pick a time that suited and that was a couple of weeks later. Although had to cancel/rearrange (had sinusitis and couldn't bend down) but got an appointment the following week (today)
