I've seen a couple of messages from posters in Spain and I was just wondering if you are pregnant with your first baby or not, if you have had a child here before, where you are, what you think of the care here, do you know if they do antenatal clubs???
I'm finding that speaking to my friends in the UK can be confusing as there are little differences in the care process.. how have you found it?
To answer my own questions first, I am in the Baleares, this is my first baby here or anywhere else , I'm 16+2 so not advanced far enough through the system to really know what I make of it, and I am not seeing any evidence of antenatal clubs!

Hi, I can not really help you as I am in France. I moved here when I was 8 weeks pg with dd and i am now 13 weeks pg with No.3.

I just wanted to say it is very scary when you are in an unfimiliar country doing something for the first time. Maybe the fact that it is your first will make it a little easier as you have nothing to compare to. I found France totaly different and I spent the entire pg'cy saying well it's not like this in the UK.

BUT I wouldn't have another baby in the UK now, France may be a little behind in their birthing techniques but the care antenatally and post natally ws amazing.

I hope you have a good experience in Spain. BTW there are ante-natal groups in France, I can't imagine there wouldn't be there. Have you tried contacting the british consula? I got some quite useful information about the system when I was pg with dd.

Hello,

I am in Spain, down on the Costa Del Sol. I am 36 weeks with my second child although dd was born in UK. We have antenatal classes here, I think they start at about 30 ish weeks. There are a few of us on here, have a look in living overseas. things here are different but this being your first will mean you have nothing to compare it too. My care generally has been very good. Look forward to chatting to you.

Thanks for your replies, I do think that it being my first will be easier as I know I would be one to always compare and drive people crazy with it!
I also think there MUST be antenatal clubs, I will try the British Consulate, thanks for that. I hadn't even thought of that but they are so lovely there and were an endless source of help when we were getting married. Good idea!
I will also check out the other board, thanks
