miscarriage or pregnant?

I'm looking for advice or help. I discovered that I was pregnant and whilst at work, passed large amount of blood clots. I was sent to the gynae ward where the examined me (closed cervix, no more bleeding), they took blood (hcg levels at around 7000) and performed at transvaginal ultrasound the next day. This showed a viable heart beat and normal for 7 +1 gestation. The sonographer said she could see where the haematoma came away and that there was still some left. A few days later, I bled and passed more and bigger clots. More blood was taken which showed that the hcg levels were raised to 8000 and again, no dilated cervix. I bled last night, normalish period type passing of blood (this was the day after the second lot of clots passed). I am due to have a ultrasound on Tuesday but I'm so confused about the hormone levels and the amount of blood/clots passed. During this whole experience, I didn't experience that much pain/cramps/discomfort. I had only mild stomach 'twinges' before the first episode. Any advice is appreciated xx

Wow poor you, it sounds very stressful. Is there any chance of getting in for an earlier scan, given the second bleed you've had?

The doc did stay that there was more to come away by the sounds of things, so everything might be ok. I have friends that have bled very heavily and gone on to have healthy babies. I wasn't as lucky unfortunately and had a miscarriage. But that was accompanied by other side effects like cramping and pregnancy symptoms disappearing.

I can so understand how this must be so confusing for you and unfortunately I guess the only way you will truly know is when you have the scan (vv unhelpful of me, I'm sorry).

I really hope it goes well hun. Is this your first pregnancy? Like I said, I did have a miscarriage myself last year, but am now 20 weeks pregnant so there is light at the end of the tunnel for most people, even if it's the worst scenario. But from what you've said there's a good chance all might be ok, so try to stop torturing yourself xxx

This wait must be so hard but it does sound like it could go either way. My experience was very heavy bleeding for a week, cramps, slightly dilated (although it was dc2) and it turned out to be just a haematoma.

Thank you for responding. I've never used this site before so have posted this under different topics. This is my third pregnancy but I have only one child. They said they usually scan a week after the initial scan. They said to wait for things to calm down and Tuesday would be the earliest available appointment.

I'm happy that you're pregnant and it is promising after what you've been through. I'm sure I'll feel better once I've had the scan regardless of what the answer is. Thank you again for your kind words and replying to my message. All the best to you xxx

Thank you Tarka. I'm so grateful for people responding to this as I don't know what to think. Your experience sounds similar to what's happened to me. I just want to know one way or another. I honestly thought there would be nothing there and was more shocked to see a heart beat. I think seeing the heart beat has made it more confusing. Thanks for the support xxx

Hi, when I was 5 weeks I had really heavy bleeding with clots. After two scans it was confirmed that the baby was okay (I'm now 37 weeks!) Mine was also caused by a haematoma . My understanding is that it really is 50:50. The fact that you've seen a heartbeat is positive so fingers crossed for you. I truly understand how horrible the wait is.
I continued to bleed lightly for another four weeks so try not to worry if that happens. Good luck xx

I had this from 5-8 weeks. It was called a subchorionic hematoma. It's very worrying and I had loads of scans but everything was fine. I had the most straight forward pregnancy and have an 18 month old dD. Try not to worry

Thank you ladies. I'm so grateful for your help and replies. It's reassuring that you've experienced this and both have positive outcomes. It's scary but I know there's little I can do now. Work have been very supportive. Thank you for letting me know that despite what you've been through, you've had a straight forward pregnancy. I'll keep my fingers crossed and keep you updated. All the best to you both xxx
