wondering if any of you have experience of this? I literally feel like someone has kicked me in my lady bits and its like I have the worst bruise ever!! standing up after sitting/lying down is really painful, and I am having to waddle now to get anywhere!

not sure if ive done a bit too much walking....i was conscious I wasn't doing much exercise so walked the dog for 2 miles yesterday and 3 miles today (not massive distances?) so not sure if this has done it....but can't imagine I've pulled a muscle down there!!

have tried dr google and wondering if it might be SPD? could walking have brought symptoms on?

I'm 26 weeks pregnant with twins....has anyone ever experienced the same? thanks!!

Oh yes... have you had a look with a mirror?? I'm 26 weeks also and the midwife said its varicose veins, purple veins maybe raised slightly. (Actually maybe don't look!) Apparently it's the extra weight, mine are worse when I've been standing a while.
I had them last time with dc2 they caused me no problems during labour and disappeared straight after giving birth.

It sounds like SPD, sorry Sad. I say sorry because I had it in both my pregnancies and it really hurts! Tell your mw and they can refer you to physio, hydrotherapy was a big help for me, didn't make it any better but pain free time in the water was a huge relief. The support belts you buy from Boots help a bit as do regular pain killers. You can be prescribed cocodamol but it depends how you feel about taking it. A long support pillow is helpful in bed and a good tip I had was to sit on a carrier bag in the car which helps you swivel to get in and out rather than moving your legs apart. Hope this helps.

I had awful varicose veins down below while carrying DS2, the pain was unbelievable. Get a mirror and have a look if you can, mine stood out like golf balls. You may be prescribed a support belt to help carry the weight.

Just to say they also completely disappeared after birth.

That's how my SPD was when it started. Get a referral to a physio asap. Take it easy if you can now. Take the stairs one step at a time - if you have a good leg lead with that going up and the bad one coming down (good to heaven, bad to hell). Start doing your pelvic floor exercises, and also pull in your lower abdominals and tighten your glutes when walking. Hopefully it doesn't progress much further

oh dear....I was hoping I had just overdone it! some pain in my hips too and did just have a look for varicose veins and can't see anything....guess I will book a Drs app on Monday! do hot baths or anything like that help relieve it a bit?

That's just how my SPD started too.

Have a chat with your GP and with your midwife too.

I had this and assumed it was SPD, but when I took myself to a physio (went private as I could claim it back through work and didn't see the point in taking up an NHS physio' time if I didn't need to) she said my pelvis was perfectly fine. She did give me some exercises to do, which did help a little.

The good news is that it's now passed, so you might find it's the same for you. I did have the pain for a few weeks but I don't any more (I'm 39 weeks now).

If you can go to a physio then do, or at least go see your midwife or GP.

so I had a hot bath last night and went to bed early, have just got up and feel much better, still a dull ache but nothing like yesterday....does it still sound like early SPD? and maybe it was a flare up? will still go and see the doctor on Monday anyway!

One thing I found that helped was those bruise packs that you get for kids (they're shaped like cartoon characters - mine is a Mr Men one Grin). You keep them in the fridge and then you can pop it between your knickers and trousers (perhaps only when you're at home!). It does really help to soothe the area.

Yes! 36wks pregnant with twins and luckily this only started for me around 32 and it has got worse and got harder and harder to walk. I just keep muttering to myself that it will all be worth it. Pretty sure it sounds like spd.
