hi

i am interested in a bebcar pram. ive seen one on pramworld / winstanleys prams for a very good price. In fact it is near enough in the budget mil had agreed she would pay (lucky i know! first dgc and pfb for us too).

anyway i am only 16 / 17 wks. is it a bad idea to buy this soon? i know awful things can happen and i can sympathise as i went through an mmc last but i am trying to stay as positive as possible.

also anyone used pramworld / winstanleys? do they do discount? i only ask as my local pramshop do offers if you ask didnt know if the same thing happened online.

ive emailed them to clarify their returns policy. my 20 wk scan is 3wks wednesday so if i time it right i could have it returned i think should i need to.

what would you do?

I started buying stuff around 20-25 weeks, just because I needed to make room for everything first. I bought our pram in mothercare so we could try it out in the store first.

Woodenheart · 09/05/2015 07:29

They are giving one away on their facebook page
here

And I just googled - 'discount code pramworld' and loads of sites came up, might be worth trying a code or 2, & see if they work?

Personally, I would wait. I think its far too early. Not because of any risk of miscarriage but because the warranty will start when you purchase it.

I bought my pram at about 30/32 weeks mainly because it kept going out of stock so I wanted to make sure that I got it. I would have waited for longer if there wasn't any sign of it going out of stock.

gingerbreadmam · 09/05/2015 07:38

take it it's ok to buy then Grin i don't know why i need an ok i guess im just worried after last time and as mn is such a great place for support you see some heart wrenching stories on occasion and they stick with you.

have either of you used pramworld? i have emailed there sales team just awaiting a response.

ive been to mothercare mammas and pappas and our local pram store. there is only the local that sells the bebecar and as i love the tradional style this is the one im particularly interested in. the guy in the pram store also ran through a few prams and where they were manufactured. if i remember correctly the bebecar is manufactured in portugal and to a very high standard which swayed it for me.

oh and i dont have fb.

oh they come with warranty? that never even crossed my mind and i suppose thats a good point would be 5 months warranty wasted.

guess im just being greedy because the price is so good and the other one i had enquired about was close to £800 Shock

This is a very good point Koala! Unless you've found an amazing never-to-be-repeated deal or the pram you want is being discontinued, I would wait for a bit.

Koalafications · 09/05/2015 07:46

Have a look it should come with a manufacturers warranty. My pram comes with a 1 year warranty.

If yours comes with a 1 year warranty losing out on 5 months is quite significant, IMO.

dillydollydarling · 09/05/2015 07:46

The shop that I've purchased my pram from keep hold of it until closer to the time so that you don't waste any of the warranty. Of course you can take it whenever you like but as soon as it leaves the shop, the warranty starts.

manateeandcake · 09/05/2015 07:47

I used Pramworld twice, first for our main travel system (Uppababy) and then for a Maclaren for travel. Both times I was very happy with the service. Didn't have or ask for a discount.
I ordered the Uppbaby early (20 odd weeks?) because I knew they were waiting for more stock. It came when I was about 28 weeks. Some people thought it was a bit early but we just put it aside in the box for a few weeks. Baby came early anyway!

gingerbreadmam · 09/05/2015 07:58

thanks everyone. i added pram and car seat to basket to see price and try a discount code which never worked.

its not actually that much cheaper than the deal my local pramshop were going to give me for what i think was a better model so will leave it. thanks for all the advice it does make sense to wait think i was blinded by the price Grin

I put a deposit down at around 24 weeks because there was a good deal for the one I wanted. I then got it delivered much closer to the birth and paid the balance then

shitebag · 09/05/2015 08:44

I bought mine at about 30 weeks, nothing to do with superstition or anything just needed to find somewhere to keep it!

I'd rather buy local and pay a bit extra if your local shop isn't that much more and they can let you test it out and returns/repairs are much easier.

If its the Stylo you're looking at try it first, I found it so heavy to push compared to my Emmaljunga and the stupid half swivelling wheels turned whenever they fancied! Much prefer a fixed wheel proper pushchair.

BumWad · 09/05/2015 10:54

We are local to Winstanleys and are going there today! It has a good reputation I have heard, our local
John Lewis will also price match to them.

gingerbreadmam · 09/05/2015 10:58

i was looking at the stylo but i quite like the ipop, is that a different one? think it said can fix the wheels on that one.

i love the emeljungas but theyre even more expensive so no go for us unfortunately. pram shop told us theyre like the best though ha!

I bought from Winstanleys in store and they price marched to the Internet - even Amazon. I just showed them my phone with the cheaper price. They were great.

gingerbreadmam · 09/05/2015 22:40

thats really good that they do that.

i wont actually be going as its nowhere near me. they did respond saying i could return so i think thats really good.

think as others have said sometimes it works out better to put a deposit down then pay off closer to edd which i guess you have to do with a local shop so i think ill stick with my local. thank you everyone though Thanks
