Past 2.5weeks baby started moving lots. But since 8pm last night there's been no movement. This morning I've also had toast & tea hoping baby would move. But nothing!

I'm getting really worried, and don't no wether this is normal or not. First baby.

How far along are you?

In any case, talk to your midwife. IME, they may want you to go to the antenatal/labour ward for monitoring, just to confirm all is OK.

Proudmummy2456 · 07/05/2015 09:15

Ring the hospital they will get you on the monitor

ConnieBaby · 07/05/2015 09:18

Ok, try not to panic. Someone with more experience will come sling but I didn't want your post to be unanswered.
How far along are you? If term, you could be about to go into labour.
Try a very cold drink as that can work.

You should never ignore this though so ring the ward now and tell them. They'll just ask you to come in and put you on a monitor. Chances are that's when baby will decide to start moving. Good luck. Take care. Don't panic but phone them now. Number will be on your notes.

TheTravellingLemon · 07/05/2015 09:22

OP don't panic. Have a glass of very cold drink, coke is good if you have because of the sugar and lay on your left hand side for 10 minutes. If you still don't feel anything call up your maternity ward.

MumToBe2015R · 07/05/2015 09:22

I'm 27+5. Really could this be the start of going in to labour Shock I'm not prepared what so ever. I am actually going to the hospital with hubby for a appointment he has, I think I should ring the Maternity Triage now too & see what they say.

I wi try a cold drink

Thank u

Ring maternity triage as soon as you can, also try lying on your left side and drink and really cold/fizzy drink.

Good luck x

Coldcabbagestew · 07/05/2015 09:25

Ring the hospital NOW.

It is unlikely to be the start of labour and it is a myth that it is normal for movements to slow down at term.

TheTravellingLemon · 07/05/2015 09:26

No! Sorry, I didn't mean it was the start of going into labour. It's fine. They'll just pop a monitor on you the check the heart rate and movement. There really is no need to panic, just worth getting checked if you're worried. But try laying on you left side for a bit first.

Coldcabbagestew · 07/05/2015 09:30

Sorry I didn't mean by post to sound too alarmist. Just didn't want you to faff about with cold drinks for too long. Good luck

Velociraptor · 07/05/2015 09:30

It is probably just that the baby has changed position so you can't feel the movements as well, but as everyone else says, get yourself checked ASAP, just in case.

plinkyplonks · 07/05/2015 09:32

Please phone the labour ward and get yourself checked out. You can try having a cold drink and laying on your left side, but any change in movements should be checked out by a medical professional.

Betsyblue · 07/05/2015 09:34

Just ring the hospital and go and get checked out. I had to do this in my last pregnancy and it was all absolutely fine.

ConnieBaby · 07/05/2015 09:44

It is a myth that movements slow at the end but they do often slow in the hour or so before the onset if labour. However, I'm in no way suggesting you're going into labour, MumToBe.
As it's your first, it could be that baby has just engaged. That can happen from around 27wks with your first (mine was 28wks) None of the others ever did.

But, you must not ignore it. Please ring maternity triage.

Mama1980 · 07/05/2015 09:48

Please ring the hospital now. Chances are baby has just moved but it's always always best get monitored.
Don't faff with drinks if your unsure call now.
Don't want to sound alarmist but as everyone else says better safe than sorry.

BifsWif · 07/05/2015 10:05

Ring the hospital to get checked but please don't worry! You're not advised to count movement before 28 weeks due to it still being so unpredictable at this stage, baby is small enough to get into all sorts of positions where you might not feel movement. Try a cold drink and lying on your left side.

MumToBe2015R · 07/05/2015 10:15

Thank you ladies. I rang the hospital & they advised I get seen straight away. I'm already here just waiting to be seen. I'm next anyway so really hoping everything is ok. Will let u know as soon as I finish from here x

Glad you're there. They are always happy to see women with reduced movements. I have 4DC and went in with 2 for the same reason. All was well and both started moving as soon as I was strapped up.

Hellohellohowareyou · 07/05/2015 10:22

Glad you have been seen so quickly x

TheTravellingLemon · 07/05/2015 12:59

How did you get on MumToBe? Hope you're both ok.

Skeppers · 07/05/2015 13:05

Just to reiterate what BifsWif said; I had a GP appointment last week and asked when I should be looking for a 'pattern' of movements as baby has mad days, then quiet ones. She said from 28 weeks they should be establishing a pattern of regular movement, so hopefully yours is just having a quiet day! Hope you're OK.

glenthebattleostrich · 07/05/2015 13:08

Hoping its just a quiet day

MumToBe2015R · 07/05/2015 13:10

I'm back from the hospital. Baby was being very lazy today. She done the heartbeat check, and bubba kept moving away. So she put me on the scanning machine & I could see him & the heart beat. So very relieved now. she made me have 2 very cold glasses of water to see his reaction, and straight after that he was moving away. So I'm glad & thank to all you ladies for the support this morning Smile
