Miscarriage?

Hello everyone. I'm new on here. I just had a few concerns about a possible miscarriage or maybe I'm just freaking out. I have a daughter who is about to be 14 months old. About 9 weeks PP I had the Paragard IUD put in. Since then, I basically bled and spotted non stop. Up until around my daughters first birthday. Since I was so irregular after having the IUD put in, I quit keeping track of my periods. Just a few weeks ago I realized I hadn't gotten my period in a few weeks. So I decided to take a pregnancy test at what would have been 2 weeks late. It was negative. So I brushed it off. And the 2 weeks later, still no period and a few pregnancy symptoms like sore tailbone, enormous breasts lol but nothing too alarming. Took maybe 3 more test(I spread them out over the course of a few days) and still negative. Then last night I woke up at around 4 in the morning in excruciating pain to where it hurt to even stand straight or walk and I went to the restroom and there was so much blood. It was really thick and chunky, but there was no glob ( like I've been reading about in other miscarriage stories) but since then, the pain has gone down but the bleeding is still very heavy. I soak through a super tampon within and hour and a half. I have no idea what's going on. Has anyone else ever gone through this? Is this normal Or should I be concerned?

I don't have much advice I'm afraid, other than please don't use a tampon incase it is a miscarriage, it may cause an infection. Is there a walk in clinic you can go to? If the bleeding gets worse, and is followed by a severe pain in the side, go to a and e, but obviously that's a last resort. Hopefully it's just a late period Flowers.

Para guard is renowned for making your periods heavier - for many women this does resolve itself after a while, but the first few months can be very heavy indeed.

But, you still need to get it checked. IUD s are bloody fabulous but there's a small risk of them moving after insertion. I'd go back to your doc and explain the pain. Usual procedure is a quick ultrasound to make sure it's where it should be, and there are no complications like an ectopic.

I'd also not use a tampon, just in case - if the IUD is where it should be it's unlikely you're pregnant but I was told not to use tampons the first couple of months as they can tug on the strings before they've softened and curled round the cervix. I had loads of horrible cramps and weird periods before mine settled down - it took a few months for it to bed in. Hopefully that's what's happening to you.

It's one of those scenarios where 99.9% is fine but that 0.1% needs quick attention, so go back to your doc and get it checked. If you have fever, severe pain or vomiting with fever and pain, it's A&e.
