Northampton hospital or Coventry hospital?

I can't decide where to give birth and both are convenient for me...

Anyone with any experience or either? Northampton looks quite depressing and old but I know that doesn't reflect the quality of care.

thank you

Im going to the birthing centre at UHCW - which is where all Coventry ladies are placed unless its a complicated pregnancy (straight onto labour ward then)

Its a big hospital, but everyone i know who has been there has praised it and ive found the sonographers and labour triage staff to be wonderful when ive dealt with them.

Have heard that Warwick is also good, but would avoid George Elliot (Nuneston)

MLU birthing centre in Northampton amazing. Normal labour ward - not so much! They were awesome with labour #2 and juggled staff from labour ward to let me use the birthing centre but it is a gamble as they are usually understaffed so the birthing centre lies half empty Sad

I've been referred to the Midwife led birthing unit at Northampton. The unit looks great, so am looking forward to using it all being well.

Have been told that Northampton has really improved over the last year or so, have only been down for monitoring so far, but will know for definite in oooh 3-6 weeks :)

Lots of my friends have used the birthing centre at Coventry and say it's brilliant. It's relatively new too. Unfortunately I'll have to be on labour ward due to previous section

DennyDifferent · 03/05/2015 16:20

cloclo are you not able to labor in the birth center if you had a section for any reason. My son was back to back so got "stuck" at 8cm. There's no reason to think that that would happen with any future pregnancies. Is it a case of previous c-section (for any reason)= high risk?

Cloclo15 · 04/05/2015 13:36

Yep, you have to be monitored on labour ward if previous section - it's due to the possibility of scar rupturing. This is the policy at Coventry anyway. Def no water birth. I had section for placenta praevia so def no reason to think I would need another one.
