Hi- just beginning to need to give in to the maternity clothes. Not wanting to buy/ spend too much but would really like some nice cropped trousers and shorts. I've got a few dresses but their not very practical for playing with DD in. Any recommendations?

Have you tried Topshop?

H & M have some lovely stuff I was there today. Great shorts for £7.99 pink white blue tan mint green. I saw some trousers like the ones you're after and with an elastic waist band too.

Gap. I was really pleased with the maternity stuff I had from there. Now online only unfortunately, but I think free delivery.

Thanks ladies- feel a shopping trip coming on. I never think to look in top shop at all- feel like I'm too old but will have a look.

I got some maternity cropped trousers at h&m and have been wearing them pretty much non-stop ever since. I'm 20 weeks now but got them about a month ago when my bump started to grow bigger than my work trousers would allow - sitting at a computer desk for 8 hours in too-small trousers is unbearable!

Arv1981 that's exactly why I've been mainly wearing dresses... Seems like a trip to h&m is definitely on the cards... Do they have different stuff in the stores to online as can only see patterned cropped trousers on the website and I'm after plain...

There isn't a lot of choice but I found some black ones and navy with a white pattern. I got mine in store not online.

H&M do decent basics, including chinos and shorts, didn't like their normal trousers tho. I found their in-store range was the same as they had on-line, i.e. nothing additional.Topshop has a really limited range imo, and in store it's just as small (or was at their oxford circus branch. I can recommend Gap or ASOS, got a couple of smart shirts from gap that will last. Primark is v limited (at least the Manchester centre one) Had two sets of trousers, and one top in 4 colours!
