I'm 38+1 weeks and yesterday I had to go antenatal due to bad pains, turns out it was just bad acid reflux and have been given tablets.
They also said baby isn't engaged yet and is high up. I'm not too worried about this bit but then they also have booked me in for a scan on Thursday due to him measuring big all the way through the pregnancy.
What happens if he is big? (He feels massive to me, feels very heavy, and bump seems to be all baby) Will I just carry on as normal? Or will I have to be induced early or have a cs? I'm probably worrying over nothing but would just like some advice on what to expect please.

DS2 was 10lb born at 40+3 (after a 8lb 6oz DS1) - normal delivery in the pool with gas and air. Don't remember it being any more painful/difficult than DS1.
Hope your scan goes ok on Thursday. Flowers

DS2 was 11lb 3oz - he was a much easier birth than DS1 so don't worry too much if you can!

Position tends to be more important than size. My big baby was delivered much more easily than my smallest. And scans are really unreliable at predicting size.

So I wouldn't worry too much. It might be that they just want to check fluid levels and that all looks well rather than being worried about his size

On our NCT course they showed an image of of a 7lb baby and a 10lb baby and when you put one on top of the other the head and shoulders were almost the same size - we were shown this because the head and shoulders are probably the worst part to deliver, so therefore a bigger baby wasn't neccessarily any different to give birth to.
The extra weight often comes because the baby is longer or limbs and tummy have put on more fat and as this part comes out in the final push that we shouldn't worry about it being big!

I only have experience of a 6lb 14oz, but I keep this in mind to reassure me for this one!

Yes I agree scans are really unreliable, I was huge and a scan at 36 weeks put baby at over 10lb, he was actually 7lb9
