Haven't called the midwife...but wondering if I should?

Hey everyone, just looking for a bit of assistance figuring out if Im being sensible! Im a first time mum to be, 21weeks today.
I woke up this morning feeling like I pulled a muscle on the lower right side of my abdomen so that every time I took a step it pulled and I had some achey pain if I put weight on my right leg. I was fine if I sat down or wasn't moving. I figured Id yanked a ligament in my yoga class or on one of my long walks. This pain on moving lasted until around 3pm when I stood up and the walking pain had morphed to become general dull pain across my whole lower abdomen. Id rate it maybe a 2-3 ie very bearable, but I cant forget about it. Im currently assuming this is just constipation or gas.
If anyone thinks Im being an idiot and should just call a midwife let me know? I come from a medical family so I hate going to a medical professional but I just wanted to check that seems sensible!
Thanks in advance!

I'd call them - even if it turns out to be gas, I'd rather feel a little daft for having it checked out than leaving it and worrying for longer.
The midwives I've spoken to are very caring and understand that you can often be hyper sensitive.
best of luck, and I hope it is just gas!

It is probably muscular pain but def no harm ringing the midwife for reassurance Smile

They will probably tell you it is likely stretching or th coverall "round ligament pain" but anything different from normal like this is always worth checking with them particularly as it hasn't got better. I'm a healthcare professional and it takes a lot for me to call to ask the midwife anything but it is always worth it when i do because I get a quicker answer to my niggling worry rather than sitting on it for a few days and seeing if it gets better on its own. In my experience the midwives on the phone are used to first time mums and are happy to reassure you everything is fine or get you in if th need to check you over. With this, they probably won't see you but will give you so,e things to try and guidance as to when to call again.

Thanks everyone. Took the advice and called her and she said if it doesn't resolve or gets any worse I should head to the hospital. My little lady appears to be quite content anyway...she is dancing around in there like nobodies business!

I had similar type of pain but it was agonising, and eventually went to hospital. They tested for all sorts and it turned out to be a muscle spasm. It came and went periodically for a few weeks then disappeared so probably triggered by either pushing myself a bit too much or maybe the stretching as my bump did grow significantly around that time. hope it sorts itself out for you !
