Low risk NIPT but high risk combined

Hi everyone, I had a nipt test on my twin girls and this came back low risk no issues. I had my 12 week scan and bloods having made the nhs aware. This has now come back on twin two as a 1/25 risk of downs. Has anyone had an experience similar to this or any advice. My inclination is that the NIPT overalls the combined, but the nhs seems to have no real understanding of the NIPT so it's difficult to make any further decisions?

Go with the NIPT. The NIPT is looking at primary data, if you want to look at it like that - it goes directly to the DNA. The combined test is looking at markers (bloods, nuchal fold) which can be affected by many different things, thus several steps away from the DNA.
Talk more to your doctor about exactly why twin 2 had a higher risk , it may have been a slight thicker nuchal fold for example and they may be able to put your mind at ease - I doubt twins develop exactly the same even at that early stage. Bottom line, I'd rely on the NIPT for the genetics results.
Congratulations on having twins!

I meant to say also that you should talk to your doc to see if they had any specific cause for concern regarding twin two. If they didn't, then it's just that the combined is only 90 ish percent accurate and does throw up false positives. A one in 25 risk is them saying they think there's about a 4% chance the baby had a chromosomal issue. That's 96% sure they are ok. Plus on top of that you've had the low risk NIPT results.

Pregnancy is just one worry after another isn't it ? :) but congratulations on your twins, and unless your doc had specific concerns about twin 2, I think you can relax.
