Slapped cheek worries

I am nearly 19 weeks pregnant and last week one of the children I look after (childminder) was diagnosed with slap cheek.

I had my booking bloods checked and it has come back today that I have no antibodies. Midwife had arranged another blood test for next week, from what I could understand to see if there is now antibodies showing that I have contracted it.
The midwife was pretty useless on the phone. I wanted to know what happens if I do have it, but she fobbed me off saying we will explore that in two weeks if we have to.
Of course I was straight on to google, and I am now terrified I will have a miscarriage or the baby will have heart problems Sad.
I guess I just wanted to share my worry and sadness as my dh is a no point in worrying or talking about it until we know kind of guy.
I already have a high risk pregnancy due to my previous pregnancy/labour with dd and now I just can't stop worrying.
Sorry for my ramblings!

I had a brush with this around 14 wks and spoke with the doctor over the phone (at that point it was just suspected and the other person ended up being clear) and she was very reassuring about the risk of contracting it.
She did say the closer you are to 20 wks the less risk there was for baby and that they would do regular scans if needed to pick up any signs.

Will keep fingers crossed that you are clear and hopefully you don't have to wait too long to find out.

My DD had it last week when we were abroad (so could hardly avoid her!). Waiting for bloods to come back with immunity or not. Worried too ESP as am 39. Fingers crossed for you too x

Thank you for replying and for the reassurance, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you too.
I am going to try and stay away from doctor google and keep positive until I know more from the blood results.
Thank you

Hi duck, I have just been through a similar situation, in that I was worried I had been exposed to slapped cheek, but at 14 weeks. I had a blood test which showed that I also had no immunity and then I had to have a repeat blood test 4 weeks after the possible exposure to check whether I had recently contracted it, and luckily I hadn't.

The risk to the baby is only up to 20 weeks, I believe, so at 19 weeks you are very close to that and will hopefully be ok. Even if you have contracted it, it may not pass to the baby, and even if it does, it may not affect the baby at all, so there are lots of variables. The mw told me that I would have extra scans up until 20 weeks to check the baby, if it did turn out that I had it, so you are nearly there anyway.
Have you been feeling ill? Obviously it's a good sign if you haven't. Hope it all works put fine for you. It is very stressful but your risk of the baby being affected is low, according to everything I've been told. Hth.

Ey. My son had it two weeks ago. The dr did not notice I am pregnant 29 weeks! I read the info saying concerns for unborn so had th blood test. M obstetrician told me I had to chase the bloods up to make sure but again did not really outline the risks but said something about anaemia and iit developing over weeks. He was insistent that I find out though. I did have immunity. I reckon just have to wait for bloods as you can't do anything else and you are far enough along and likes been said so many variables so can only wait although I know that is stressful will prob b ok.
