Isofix- Nissan Micra 1999 T-Reg

Hope I've put this in the right place... if anyone can suggest a better one where I'd get more traffic ('scuse the pun), feel free!

My car is an older Nissan Micra, T-Reg 1991 model. I discovered today, much to my shock, that it does in fact have Isofix points. I'd been working on the assumption that it didn't until the helpful Babies R'Us lady pointed them out to me!

However, she said it's worth checking whether the Isofix points are safe to use. She knows that anything after 2006 is fine by default, but prior to that it depends on the make/model of the car. I've tried looking online but can find nothing about this particular model. Basically, we can't get any of the seatbelt/cabriofix-style car seat bases into our car because of the angle of the rear seats and good old 'buckle crunch', so having the option of Isofix would open things up for us.

Anyone have the same make/model car, or know where I could find this info re: the Isofix suitability?

The only other option is to have a seat without a base which we'd have to secure with a seatbelt each time. Fortunately my car is quite roomy (for a small'un) and the lady did demonstrate it; it was very easy and straightforward, just took a few seconds, but I'd prefer a clicky base because I'm lazy.

My local council has a car fitting service who aren't tied to sales at all so might be worth seeing if yours has similar and ask them. Failing that I think go to your nearest Nissan dealership and ask them to find out for you.

That's a great tip- will check out the council's website. Thanks! Grin

Hi my husband works in car seating and says the micra didn't have isofix fitted until 2007 onwards, unless it's in the front seats, but if it does have it, it will be perfectly safe

It does definitely have it! Little metal hook things right down in the back of the cushions in both rear seats. Maybe a previous owner had it fitted because they had kids of their own? Never mind, that's awesome news! Thanks for the feedback! Grin
