Title says it all.
I'm 28 weeks with my first and am SO EXCITED about labour..... (not scared/nervous)
Anyone else? Please tell me I'm not going insane!

I'm glad you are excited. Your baby will be the best person you've ever met....But for me labour was the single worst experience of my life and months later I'm still getting PTSD type symptoms. So YABU

I was dreading it the first time but it was such an empowering and amazing experience and despite a long labour with s back to back labour and two hours of pushing, I felt on such a high after and couldn't wait to do it again.
My second labour was even better - home water birth two months ago. I don't think I want any more children but I would love to give birth again!

I wasn't worried about labour. But after a 24 hour labour with a back-to-back baby, I felt betrayed by all women who'd led me to believe it would be fine. I hope yours is better, but no amount of positive thinking could have changed my situation. I really believe it's helpful to be informed and have realistic expectations.

Good to be positive, definitely.
Just keep an open mind. I was quite excited too, but it was so much harder than I could ever have imagined.

I completely understand heatherxo
I'm exactly the same! Excited about seeing the baby as well as labour; of course knowing it may not go as I expect and of course will not be pain-free but worrying about the unknown or something beyond our control is pointless! I intend to have a birth plan, and keep a positive mind :-)

Tell you what I enjoyed about labour - it was all about ME.

OP you have the right attitude.

I was the same, not nervous or scared at all.

Unfortunately I was gutted as I had to have a EMCS after 48 hours labour (had eclamptic seizures which is rare).

It took me a long time to get over that disappointment rather than the c-section itself.

I was due to have a vbac with DC2, but again the decision was taken away from me (pre eclampsia) however, my section was planned a week in advice, was calm and lovely! I really enjoyed the experience (I know, who enjoys a c-section!) and this time am absolutely looking forward to my 3rd c-section.

So basically the moral of the story is, great to be positive, but if things don't go to plan, don't be disappointed, getting them out is only a small part of the journey that is parenthood.
