Etiquette for contacting mums to be

Well, here goes....

Over the past week I have received some of, what I can only describe as, the rudest texts messages ever!

A cousin (husband's cousin's wife) texted me the following text last Saturday:

"Any baby?"

To put this into perspective; my due date was Sunday (so she was a day early) and the last time we spoke was at a random family gathering last August Shock

Hubby has been amazing, creating memes and putting them on facebook, cheekily telling people that no baby still hasn't made an appearance, while trying to stress that texts such as that one will not be appreciated.

So, it could be because I am overly emotional right now (please tell me you would feel this way too), but can anyone provide me with similar stories of how those around them seem to lose all restraint and do not understand correct etiquette when it comes to contacting a mama-to-be!

I didn't get offended at all when my family or friends pestered me. I was the full 2 weeks over due. Even a hormonal wreck I could understand that they were just as excited as me to see my daughter, and also just concerned about me.

My dad was constantly asking me with my first, I think he was just excited. When my daughter was finally born it took hours for him to answer the phone for me to tell him!

My dd was born 1 day after DD, I went into labour on my Dd. One family member commented shed be a teenager before she was born! People, in person would ask, I'd look down at huge tummy and want so badly to say yes I've given birth and she's at home on her own.

When pregnant with dd1 my boss text me at 4.30 am!!! On my due date saying she couldn't sleep as she was so excited that the baby might come today! Angry
I was raging as I was actually going in to be induced that morning due to concerns over the baby and had not long got to sleep!
I am kind of ashamed to admit this now but I immediately put a message on facebook saying "no the baby is not here yet! Please stop harassing me at all hours asking, it won't be kept as a state secret when she arrives! And a warning, if anyone wakes me before 8am again I will beat you to death with a tub of Sudocream!"
I was obviously a anxious hormonal mess but it worked lol! Luckily I didn't go back to work Blush

duckbilled you poor thing, that's awful! I think you were fully justified in being very cross.
