Finally freaked myself out today. I'm 38 weeks and ive put on 4 stone. I'm so self conscious and worried I'll never lose it again. It's so uncomfortable this extra weight but . Just can't stop eating. I know when baby arrives I'll not be as bothered but oh I wanna cry. Sick of media putting unrealistic expectations on us mums to be.

ah, of course you will! this is my first, but i can assure you that every single one of my friends with kids is back to where they were. annoyingly, some of them are even slimmer now, after all the running around and carrying!

I'm 37 weeks, weighed myself this morning and I also have put on 4 stone and gained 12 chins Hmm desperately hoping I'm going to loose it all!

Oh ladies, dont panic:

ImpatiencePersonified · 20/04/2015 15:51

Ohh that posted before I had a chance to paste the thingy!

Right so its's expected:

If you were...

Underweight before pregnancy: 28-40 pounds

Normal weight before pregnancy: 25-35 pounds

Overweight before pregnancy: 15-25 pounds

Obese before pregnancy: 15

Carrying twins: 35-45

So in essence you've only really gained a a stone and a half if you were in the normal category and even if you weren't you'll lose it.

Promise x

Don't worry, I put on 4 stone at term with DS1 and lost virtually all of that at 3 months. He was only 8lb 3oz but I found breast feeding (if you are able to and want to) really helped me shift the lbs. Started running with DS1 in the running buggy twice a week at 6 weeks and started yoga again and buggyfit at 8 weeks. (I was however very fit before and during my pregnancy so leave it longer after birth if you're not as active). The rest of the weight dropped off at 7 months when I stopped breastfeeding. Don't put too much pressure on yourself and set yourself the challenge of getting fit after baby arrives whenever you feel ready and want to.

Awe thanks so much girlie's.this really cheered me up. My partner says it doesnt bother him and stop worrying but guess it's hard when you just don't feel yourself. I know when my baby comes I'll be so ecstatic that the weight won't seem such an issue but 9 months is a long time when your emotions are in turmoil anyway.
Thanks again, I really appreciate hearing that I'm not on my own Xxx.
