Ow ow ow.

I've checked with Dr. Google and it's nothing more sinister; no other symptoms of pre-eclampsia or anything like that and it's both ribs, not just on one side...

...but OW! OW OW OW.

I'm 24+1. I'd heard that this could start to happen around now. I'm having flashbacks to my gallstone pain (although this is nowhere near as bad).

Any tips for pain relief? I really want to take off my (underwired...I know!) bra to alleviate the pressure a bit but can't as I'm at work. Blush I'm stuck in a sitting position all day at my desk.

Doesn't help that Junior seems to have already discovered the extra space created by the slow separating of my ribs and has taken to swimming up there for a good old look around and now seems to have got himself wedged...although I suppose that's slightly preferable to him booting me in the cervix which was his favourite game until now.

It's my fault. Was bragging to a colleague this morning how easy my pregnancy had been so far and how I didn't understand what all the fuss was about. Karma is a timely bitch.

OW!

It's rib flare which is seemingly very common but not pleasant , I'm also plagued with it but but just on one side and it's both my back and rib area. I saw the physio last week. She recommended placing a rolled up towel another Base of your back whilst Sitting at your desk and getting up and stretching regularly. She also gave me a tuba grip bandage which goes over bump and back which sometimes offers extra support so more comfort.

I do a prenatal Yoga class which also gives temporary relief. Im 28 weeks now and hope it just stops one day, they say investment baby drops down you may feel better but to be honest my bump doesn't look that high!
Maybe also refer yourself for physio too.

Thanks for the tips! I've had a look for pre-natal yoga classes around this area but they all seem to take place during the day which is no flippin' good if you work full-time!

It's eased off a bit now; will try getting a support bandage thingy for when it (inevitably) flares up again.

I had this in my first pregnancy, so painful that the GP actually sent me for a gallstone scan!! I ended up having a pregnancy massage with an osteopath once a week towards the end and it was fantastic, really helped with the pain.

I'm 11 weeks pregnant now with dc2 and I'd actually forgotten how painful it became! Fingers crossed it doesn't happen this time... Smile

OMG....im so glad its not just me! I was plagued with dc1 from about 7 months. This time around I've had it since about 4 1/2 months. Its the left side at the front and feels like something is wedged in between my ribs. I. Went ro docs and they prescribed 8/500 co codamol plus ive to go see Physio. If its on ur right side, get it checked it could be ur liver. Otherwise its just everything pushing up ?? xxx

I'm so glad you wrote this post, I'm in agony!! 26 weeks with twins and have been suffering since 17 or so weeks :( is at its worst when I sit down (I have pretty poor posture) and nothing helps apart from lying down! although this is the only pregnancy symptom I'm having so I suppose I'm quite lucky!
