Joolz Geo or Uppababy Vista

Hi,

So being only 14 weeks I thought I would like to look at travel systems. Off I went to John Lewis with my mum and after about 15 mins of looking at lots of buggies, without a clue what I was looking at, a kind shop assistant showed me the uppababy vista which I must admit I was very very impressed with.

I live in the city, near the underground so the majority of the use will be stepping from my front door and going down the street. Going to coffee shops, walks to the local park etc.

The chassis size of the uppababy vista is maybe a bit big for me. Also it's fold down size but other than that I really like it.

The joolz geo is more compact and just looks a bit nicer. I am a bit confused.

I can't find any reviews as its so new (except by them) so any thoughts would be appreciated.

I also like that both (if required) could become suitable for closely aged siblings.

Thanks Smile

I love my Vista Smile. By the sounds of it I do the same stuff as you - not much public transport, walking, park, coffee shops etc.

You can tilt the seat very upright and park it at tables which is handy in coffee shops when the baby is older and there are no highchairs (very first world benefit, I know!).

Huge basket means you can fit bag, ton of library books and a lot of groceries too.

I've also travelled with my Vista which was no problem. We did cough up for the travel bag, but it means Uppababy insure it and fix any damage super quick.

No idea about the other brand.

DH accepted my choice of the Vista without looking into it. This week he borrowed another buggy and swore he would never be unfaithful to the Vista again. You can push it with one finger, it turns on a ten pence piece, and the brakes and folding mechanisms are brilliantly designed. It has a big handy basket, plus the handlebar is a great height (I tried pushing an Oyster this week and ended up like the hunchback of notre dame)

crazycat... i only know the uppababy, but live just near marble arch so very similar to you lifestylewise. I love the vista; basket big enough to drag around lots of groceries, plus back wheels big enough to bump up and down steps around town without any problems. Many of the buggies seem to fold down to smaller, but then have to lie flat unlike the vista which stands on it's end (don't know about the joolz). I second the ease of pushing, turning, etc..

If you ever travel by bus, consider the Uppababy Cruz as it's narrower than the Vista, but otherwise similar. We live in London and love ours.

Haha, I initially thought, when reading your thread title, that you were canvassing opinions on baby names, am so relieved I'm mistaken!!! Blush Grin
Apologies for my intrusion, can't even help I'm afraid, showing my age as these buggy brands are new since my 2 were littlies.
Oh and congratulations.

Another vista fan!! The bassinet can be used for overnight sleeping. Nothing big plus!

Love my vista though I have a
2013 version -believe the 2015 one is better. It is a bit of a faff to fold up and put in the car but otherwise a great bit of kit especially the basket. Also my DS liked napping in the carry cot while small, unlike the moses basket which he hated.

Just tested the Joolz Geo at a baby show and have ordered it myself...was between that, the Stokke Crusi and the iCandy Peach. I thought the Joolz was a good compromise between the good looks but impracticality of the Stokke, and the practicality but fairly average looks of the iCandy.

Pros: Very long handle - myself and boyfriend have long legs but could imagine an older child on a Buggyboard would be fine between us and the pram due to handle length. Nice fabrics. Huge basket when used as single pram. AMAZING fold - folds to a very neat size in one movement with the shopping basket and seat unit (or units, when used as a Duo) still attached, love this. Older child ontop facing out when used as Duo - much better than Stokke Crusi where the older child is crushed below the baby basket facing parents feet. Could have the baby ontop and older child below by using the car seat ontop and sibling seat below. Nice and light to push, good balance. Bassinet can be used overnight when staying away from home. Hooks to hang baby changing bag from so it doesn't slip down handle and end up knocking against your legs.

Cons: For first 6 months, second baby is confined to a bassinet under the older child which means not much interaction with parent. I thought using the baby's car seat on the upper fixings and having the older child sit below on the sibling seat could get around this on short outings, though. Taking the second baby's bassinet off the bottom fixings is a bit fiddly and involves tilting the basket up so not possible to do with baby asleep inside, bad if you live up a flight of stairs and need to get buggy up without waking baby but fine for us as we live on a ground floor so can just wheel the pram in leaving baby asleep inside. No shopping basket underneath when used as a Duo (is replaced by sibling seat), although changing bag still hangs from handles and panniers can be bought for each side.

Does anyone with the 2013 model vista know if it can be turned into a double? I know the new one can.

Christelle2207 · 22/04/2015 06:55

Yes in theory. However I am expecting my second and have found it difficult to source the 2nd seat- basically they are no longer manufactured which is very annoying given how many people would have bought it with this in mind. It's not an ideal setup though- the extra seat is called a rumble seat and I think will be ok for occasional use (by older child) only. From what I can tell the new vista deals with the 2 child issue a lot better.
