Exercise with SPD

Morning all!

I'm 11+4 with my second pregnancy and have been getting twinges of SPD for a fortnight already. Bit gutted, as last time I had it quite badly (crutches, not able to cover any significant distance on foot) but only from 36 weeks on. It's much much milder than that right now, but I've got no experience of managing it for months on end while trying to stop it getting worse.

Has anyone had it from early on and managed to keep up some form of exercise throughout? What did you do?

I should say I'm not a sporty type at all, have precious little fitness as it is - so frankly I'm scared of turning into a useless bag of jelly if I can't do much for basically the rest of the year. I'm also a non-swimmer. Was hoping to get some use out of my stationary bike, but don't know if that's a good idea or a terrible one.

I'm seeing a physio on Monday, so will be running any fitness ideas past them before going at it full tilt.

Talk to the physio. I've had it since 13 weeks and I haven't been able to keep up much exercise more than pregnancy yoga. I was working on my feet all day until 20-24 weeks but had to make adjustments like avoiding stairs and sitting where I could. I think the bike might be tricky if it's an upright one as you'll still be twisting your pelvis but one of those where you're sat down with your legs more out in front of you might be a better option as the seat is more supportive. Also, swimming using straight leg kicks (so back stroke or front crawl) should be ok just avoid avoid avoid breast stroke (that was what set mine off in the first place).
