Baby kicks and maternity clothes

I'm 22+4 and the last couple of weeks I have been feeling what feels like twitching in my bump, at first I thought it was muscle twitches but they happen every day and some of them quite strong so thinking it's baby moving. I just wonderd if it felt like that for other people as I have seen other posts that say it feels like bubbles popping or butterflies but doesn't feel like that to me?

Also does anyone have any recommendations for maternity clothes? it drives me nuts there is nothing in the shops but am getting desperate now for stuff

the first movements felt like bubbles to me, but they will get stronger quite quickly. So yes the twitches are probably movements.

dillydollydarling · 15/04/2015 13:45

My first movements felt like twitches too! I wasn't sure it was baby at first but now I can feel proper kicks so I know it was. After the twitches started it sometimes felt like I'd swallowed a goldfish.

Sounds like it could be movement to me. I on,y knew what the movement was in hindsight once they got stronger but definite,y no butterflies here. If anything it felt more like I needed to break wind-not the best way to describe it but it is honestly the closest thing I can think of to the movement!

As for maternity clothes, this is the horrible bit of pregnancy as very few places have them in store. I found I was better buying normal clothes in stretchy material d maybe a size bigger than nkrmal. Pepper berry were great for that as their curvy range allowed extra room for growing boobs and I got a few tops in their sale range. I then bought a bundle of clothes on eBay for about £35 most of which I am ending up wearing even though it's not my usual style main,y because it js now all that fits me! I also liked jojomamanbebe if there is one near you as their stuff seems good quality and not too overpriced. I had a Red Herring pencil skirt for work that fitted and was comfy but I wore it to absolute death and it is now only fit for the bin which sadly seems to be an issue with most of the high street maternity wear. Gap oline was also ok as theyoften have free delivery on maternity wearf you like their style of things-have a cardigan from there that has worked as a good cover up when normal clothes are getting a bit snug. The main issue I have had with regular clothes that stretch is that they aren't long enough as my bump is now full term sized so if you are going to try this route get long things or cheap primark vests to go underneath.
Good luck

Normal maxi dresses one or two sizes bigger, I've got three now, so comfy and for once being short doesn't matter as my 34 week bump lifts them up :)

Sound like movements to me

whittlefish · 15/04/2015 14:28

Thanks everyone think I will check out eBay and maybe try getting a few sizes bigger too.

You are so lucky being able to get maxi dresses. In this heat they would be lovely and not too clingy. I was winter/spring so not really many dresses in the shops.

MrsAukerman · 15/04/2015 14:50

H&M and ASOS are both good for maternity clothes.

OMC1 · 15/04/2015 18:48

Hi Whittle I'm 22+5 so we are quite close! My movements feel like little muscle spasms (I didn't really have any butterflies, or if I did I missed them!) so I think you're definitely feeling baby! Congratulations!

Following this thread for advice on maternity clothes as I'm lost too! Smile

Fluffin · 15/04/2015 19:07

Got a couple of pairs of underbump trousers from Asos for work and are so comfy! Got a pair of jeans from Red Herring and my mom has just text me saying Asda Maternity is on sale.

muddymary · 16/04/2015 08:37

I've found asos to be really good. I also go on ebay and just select the more expensive shops and scroll through for bargains! The only time I've ever been complimented on my clothes though has been when I've worn plus size rather than maternity clothes!

whittlefish · 16/04/2015 19:05

I know why is they seems to think once you get pregnant you loose all sense of style and everything has to be in full boring colours

Baby might have hiccups! Mine gets hiccups at least once a day & I'd say it feels like muscle spasms. I always thought it was baby movements until we went for a 4d scan & baby was jumping on the screen & the sonographer said it had hiccups! Cute!

hestialou · 17/04/2015 07:36

I got two dresses from serpahine for work and order one from jojomamanbebe. Glad will be pregnant over summer as summer dresses are generally looser and flowy so more room for a bump. I am just glad it is warmer now and can forgo tights

SmileyScooby · 17/04/2015 07:38

Sounds like what I had, felt like muscle spasms. I wondered if trapped wind at one point! When I asked a friends she said that they were movements.

Overtiredbackagain · 17/04/2015 08:39

The whole maternity clothes thing is a mine field. Not many places to buy in-store, mostly online. H&M do In-store but personally quality is rubbish. For work I have a few basics that I am managing to scrape through with (am 29 weeks). For home I have bought some maxi dresses and vest tops a size bigger and that really helps and soooo much cheaper. I spent £50 in Primark the other day and got loads, compared to £50 in Next for one/two maternity items Shock

EBay is pretty good too, although always a scramble to get anything decent. I'll be selling my maternity work stuff on there when I'm done in 7 weeks Grin

trixy04 · 17/04/2015 23:43

I started to feel movements about 2 weeks ago (now 21 weeks), it started out like someone moving their finger up and down inside my tum.

Maternity clothes - New Look are fab, Mothercare, got my best ever pair of over bump jeans from Debenhams...... searched and got a few interesting things on Ebay. Spoke to some friends who were a similar size and pinched their maternity clothes. Good luck xxx

muddylettuce · 18/04/2015 09:03

Sounds like movements to me! Very exciting. As for clothes, personally I like asos. I know it's online but they do free returns. Otherwise h&m are good too. They tend to stock a small amount in store even in my local on the small side store. X

whittlefish · 19/04/2015 08:31

Thanks all I have managed to buy some things to hopefully tide me over

Loubaby2 · 19/04/2015 15:17

I think it sounds like movement.

As for clothes I managed to get some jeans from new look, they have a good selection online of leggings and t-shirts etc. I also got some leggings from Asda online and they were only £8 each. H&M do a good selection too, they had some things in store last week but they do have things online too. Oh and I got a nice dress from Next too. It's frustrating that hardly any places do a maternity section in store.

comeagainforbigfudge · 19/04/2015 15:40

Ah maternity clothes buying is a nightmare.
Ive just bought some thirty from primary that are normal size but the cut is very baggy and material is stretchy.

I think mums net should start a campaign for all (larger) shops to carry maternity line.
I mean, most shops cater for woman, so why do they all of a sudden no longer care about getting money out of us when pregnant?

And I don't want to buy online. I like seeing clothes in the flesh.

sorry, just very annoyed with the lack of clothes that aren't black! Cos that seems to be the only colour available. Gah!!

comeagainforbigfudge · 19/04/2015 15:41

Thirty = tshirt and primary = primark

aletea · 19/04/2015 16:04

A few years ago most shops that did maternity clothes had a section for them, I wonder if they removed them all as there wasn't much uptake?
