If I don't control this, I'll be the size of a house by the time I'm giving birth. I'm just hungry all the time. I don't remember this from my first pregnancy. I had a very good diet before I got pregnant, but it's gone to the dogs now. Any ideas for nice, healthy snacks that will fill me up, but won't make me feel like I'm going to puke or give me heartburn?

Cereal bars all the way... Yoghurt covered, the nut ones, things like that. Simple ingredients & small but still filling enough to stop you feeling awful. Hopefully Smile

Hey Ficidy, I'm 7-8wks and feel the same. I'm finding it hard as not really fancying much atm.
I usually eat a fair few eggs, especially at breakfast but I'm avoiding them now incase they aren't cooked properly and tonnes of fish but again having to be careful.
I'm snacking on yogurt and fruit - sitting at my desk is the hardest as there's every sort of vending machine you can imagine and we're in the centre of town too so lots of temptations!
I'll watch the thread tho as I'm interested in some alternatives too!!!! Xxx

I eat a lot of cereal - Inc at least one bowl during the night. And yoghurt. And a sandwich at morning coffee/mid morning. Also afternoon tea of some description and then supper with pudding.

Don't worry it won't last forever, just so what you've got to do.

If I dont eat that I am sick, nauseous and have no energy.

I'm only 4+4 and am eating every hour or two :( I have a packet of digestives by my bed so I don't have to get up so much; I have a supply of Naked and 9Bars at my desk, and a big pit of yoghurt in the office fridge. Trying to limit treats to 1-2 per day but.........

I had slightly low bp & felt like this.
I wasn't hungry more felt weak and sugary food helped.

Try rice cakes or handful of dry cereal.

I wouldn't worry. I was STARVING for the first trimester, and ate tons. Much of it was pasties, chocolate, chips, white carbs etc. Not what I'd normally have but it was all I wanted and I felt great afterwards.

I'm now 36 weeks and I've gained a grand total of 13 pounds (BMI of 24 to start with).

I found the hunger dropped off a lot during the second tri, and I was able to return to my normal diet. It was like the hunger was what I got instead of morning sickness.

As long as you get your fruit and veg in I think you'll be fine!

I've always got in my fridge -

Cartons of fresh soup, like carrot coriander, chicken sweetcorn
Slices of pure cheese, not processed
Ham
Boiled eggs
Individual pots of yoghurt
Individual fruit portions like apples, strawberries, bananas
Cartons of innocent smoothies in different fruit blends
Vegetable juice

And in freezer I've got

Sweet potato wedges
Potato wedges
Jacket potatoes prepared and frozen
Microwave frozen brown rice
Fish fingers
Sliced wholemeal bread

And in cupboard

Baked beans
Tinned fish
Condiments and pickles

So, when the munchies strike, I could do various combinations out of these, like -

Jacket tatty in microwave for five minutes, with beans and cheese
Sandwich with cheese, ham or fish fingers
Brown rice microwaved for couple minutes or tatties with tinned fish
Mug of fresh soup from innocent
Glass of smoothie
Chopped apples with pot of yoghurt and honey

You'll find these supplies in fridge actually even make up good lunches, and none of them will leave you feeling guilty because they pack fibre and protein in them and count towards your calcium or fruit and veg counts.

Nice list, focus. I'm just back from lunch and already hungry :(

I was definitely the same in all three pregnancies to date - had to eat every hour in the first trimester. If I didn't, or breakfasted more than, like, ten minutes after getting out bed, then I started feeling sick. I found that avocadoes and bananas were great to have around - fatty, filling, not as unhealthy as some other things. Hard-boiled eggs also great; nuts, raisins, yoghurt with oats and fruit in, crackers with cheese on.

I put on quite a bit of weight at the beginning, but thankfully the eating eased off considerably after the first trimester - now I am 24 weeks with DC3 and I'm back to eating three normal-sized meals a day and the odd snack. My overall weight gain in each pregnancy was within the normal bounds, so it didn't make a big difference in the end.

Thanks, willnotbetamed, that is pretty reassuring.

Some brilliant ideas here girls!! I have found that my sweet tooth is rearing its ugly head again, so I need to keep that under control. I am loving some of the ideas you've posted here. I'll be going shopping at the weekend and lots of those things are going on my list. Just finished lunch and hungry here too! It's crazy. I don't remember this from my first pregnancy at all. I've a hungry little Horace on board!! :-)
