Contaminated urine sample?

What does this mean. The last 2 consultant appointments have picked something up in my urine and sent them away. Both times now they have come back that the sample was contaminated??
So no results to be had, what could cause this. I'm 36weekd pg tomorrow.

Could it be discharge? No idea though!

I really don't know and nobody would explain, I had another urine sample yesterday and it showed up that I had nitrates in my Urine, she said it must be sent away. I said I had been having pain and trouble going for a wee, but she didn't seem bothered.
I have another consultant appointment tomorrow, I think I have a uti, she said we would have to wait for the results before doing anything. , worried it may cause harm to baby x

My understanding is this:
Contamination in hospital tests (urine, blood, swabs etc) means the lab has found bacteria they wouldn't expect to find for the type of sample. Some bacteria can't grow in certain conditions (maybe they need to access oxygen to breed for example). However they can get into the sample by potentially transferring from something the sample pot touches. So when giving urine if you're like me you put the pot onto your skin to avoid spillage but I think there may be bacteria on the skin that ends up in the pot that wouldn't normally be in the urine itself. Does that make sense? Similarly with blood, they obviously clean your skin with an alcohol wipe to remove any bacteria getting into the sample when the needle goes through the skin.
Hope that helps and good luck getting the results back as you're having symptoms. Part of the problem peeing may be related to the weight of the baby on your bladder meaning you can't fill or empty your bladder properly. If you're like me, you need to go regularly but then find there's nothing there but then need to go again within half an hour. For me it's better at night when I think lying find moves the weight off my bladder so I can fill it a bit more.

Try taking what they call a "clean catch" sample. If you google it you'll find instructions, or you can look at the link below. Basically, we are all covered in bacteria and sometimes they get into your urine sample. By taking a clean catch sample you dramatically reduce the bacterial load.
