Why is this car seat so cheap?

It complies with the new rules, looks decent, but is cheap.
What's the catch? I want to purchase!!

Probably just bought too many units and it's not shifting! Maybe no-one likes the colour?

LetThereBeCupcakes · 14/04/2015 10:03

It says have rear-facing until 9 months - the new rules say 15 months don't they? Might be worth checking weights etc.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 14/04/2015 10:05

Grin because it is in a Sale. Thats generally what happens when stuff goes in a sale - it becomes cheap.

The reason it is in the sale is prpbably due to the units not selling at the rate they had anticipated.

Lots of people buy an infant seat to attach to their buggies, so these sorts of seats have a shorter shelf life. Rear facing til 4 is alsp becoming a lot more common, so people buy an infant seat then an ERF seat.

Colour is lovely! If it rear faced for longer id get it for my DS Grin

The relevant pieces of legislation to bring i-Size into UK law have completed
Parliamentary processes and came into force on 27 March and 1 April respectively.

But - and this is where the confusion has come in, due in part to some misleading wording on the government website - the new i-Size standard does not replace the current one (R44/04): rather, it runs alongside it in parallel.

Therefore, child car seats complying with either standard (i-Size or R44/04) may still be sold and used. Parents do not have to purchase a new car child seat if they are using one which meets the current standard.

Yep you can (unfortunatley!) Still forward face a 9mo even with the new rules, as tge new rules only cover iSize seats.

Fully RF to 15mo wont come in completely til 2018.

TeddyBear5 · 14/04/2015 10:07

I have it and it's great. No issues so far :-)

KatoPotato · 14/04/2015 10:08

But in that seat you could probably RF up til about 15months anyway? depends on length of the child?

TeddyBear5 · 14/04/2015 10:14

You can rear face in it until 10kg, forward face from 9kg (so you swap sometime between 9-10kg giving a leeway)

I know it's in the sale, just seemed remarkably cheap for a sale item!

Yes it will be for my DS. I love the colour (and my car is silver)

Teddy thank you! Glad to hear it's a good purchase

Kato I don't think DS will be very tall, I am 5ft 3, OH is 5ft 11.

My children by previous partner are giants, and defo wouldn't have fit.

It could be because the 9kg rear facing weight limit is quite small. Most RF infant seats have a weight limit of 13kg. That's probably why it was cheap in the first place but probably not enough units being sold is why it's in the sale.

We've got this! Baby isn't here yet (we got it ages ago) so I can't review it properly but it seems absolutely fine. Lovely and soft, sun shield is good too.

Interestingly I noticed that around Christmas the black one was in the sale and the red one full price. Maybe they alternate Wink

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 14/04/2015 20:15

We've got two of these. Absolutely fantastic have had no problems with them so far!! My DD loves them too. Smile

Thanks ladies! Will be purchasing at the weekend. Was all set to pay out £100's on a car seat, so the money can go towards something else Grin
