I feel your pain... I had coleslaw with my salad at lunchtime... been regretting it ever since!!

Whatabout · 11/04/2015 21:17

Go and get some omeprazole from the doctor? It's bliss.

Wenglish · 11/04/2015 21:43

I have just been prescribed this. Does the omeprazole really work whatabout?

Wenglish · 11/04/2015 21:44

Try Gaviscon Advance liquid, suitable in pregnancy and can be bought over the counter, I know my local tesco and sainsbury pharmacies stock it, I sent my dp to 24 hour tesco extra to buy it before Grin much better than rennie.

MissTwister · 11/04/2015 21:50

I've been using gaviscon sorts it out for a day usually and far better than Rennie's as it forms a barrier on top of stomach rather than just reducing acid

Whatabout · 11/04/2015 22:02

Omeprazole really, really does work. Gaviscon is known as donkey sperm in our house, the double action : advance liquid helped slightly prior to getting the lovely tabs.

ClearlyMoo · 11/04/2015 22:07

Prescription Gaviscon is great. I had it from 14 weeks with my dd. The pharmacist asked "how far along are you?" And then made a massive sympathy face when I said "14 weeks". It did come and go in phases. But Eurgh. You have my sympathy.

comeagainforbigfudge · 11/04/2015 22:11

Or ranitidine. That's what my Dr prescribed.

Magic stuff! You can pick it up in supermarket as well. Although it's a smaller dose than what Dr prescribes me.

Hope you get some relief soon. I felt like my entire insides where burning! Now it's only a wee burny feeling as meds wear off!

Flutterby24 · 11/04/2015 22:14

Second the recommendation for ranitidine I only got it last week and it's been a lifesaver from painful heartburn and reflux. I feel normal again and sleeping better. Gaviscon didn't do anything for me x

MissTwister · 11/04/2015 22:20

Donkey sperm?

piggychops · 11/04/2015 22:22

I remember the dreadful heartburn.
Unfortunately I had a craving for Mint Aero bars which really aggravated it.
I would buy 2 bars at the newsagents, eat them both straight away in the car, but have a bottle of Gaviscon handy in the glove compartment to swig on the way home.
That stuff never really worked.

Bigbadgeorge · 11/04/2015 22:29

Feel your pain! Can't bear the sight of gaviscon anymore but reflux causing me to randomly puke :-(. Taking rantidine, it's helping but has not stopped the problem

Frasras11 · 11/04/2015 22:41

I mainlined Gaviscon with DS1. Have been suffering this time even though I'm still in 1st trimester. When it hits badly I'll be straight to GP asking for omeprazol.

Had stomach infection after DS1 was born which caused constant heartburn. The proton pump inhibitors do work. Over the counter ranitidine works too if you do take every 12 hours. Asda do packs of 24 for £1.50

Elledouble · 11/04/2015 22:48

I've got Tesco's own Gaviscon type stuff. I didn't want to take any medicines really but the heartburn has been the WORST. I've been taking it about three times a day, it's starting to become bearable again.

ilovelamp82 · 12/04/2015 00:00

Ranitidine. Only thing that works. one every 12 hours. A godsend. You can get them over the counter and they are fine during pregnancy.

MustBeLoopy390 · 12/04/2015 00:03

Tesco's chewable antacid tablets are what work for me :)

MissTwister · 12/04/2015 10:18

I bought Zantac Ranitidine but is said not to take in pregnancy!

Wenglish · 12/04/2015 11:52

Do not try sainsburys own- so so bad! Jelly like. Not good!

dy14 · 12/04/2015 11:53

I was prescribed rinitdine also! one twice daily ive to take! I hadnt heard of it before so I Google it just to make sure was ok and alot of woman who are pregnant take it I found. I find it works for a while unless thats a coincidence. ive been having terrible heartburn I feel like a dragon Grin making me feel sick aswell! 33weeks not long! but gaviscon worked for me also! and didnt find it to disgusting! Smile

Skiptonlass · 12/04/2015 19:15

Olmeprazole. It's very well studied in pregnancy and has a good safety profile. Ranitidine is good too but there are more studies on omeprazole. Heartburn is bloody miserable :(

Cornberry · 12/04/2015 22:37

I'm on omeprazole. It's brilliAnt. I asked my GP to prescribe it and it works like magic.

muddymary · 13/04/2015 08:18

I'd also recommend ranitidine from the docs. I was miserable with heartburn and rennies/gaviscon etc weren't doing anything. I'd say within twenty minutes of taking the ranitidine it was under control.

Doodlekitty · 13/04/2015 16:35

Bought some ranitidine today and will eing doc for app tomorrow. Impossible to get one on a monday
