Recommendations for Nursing bras?

I'm almost 30 weeks, when's the best time to be fitted for bras?

Also any particular stores/websites to order from. I'm currently a 40 C/D.

Thanks

best is after you've had your baby and boobs have settled down. Might be a bit of hassle to get to shops with a newborn, so some shops will fit you around 38 weeks - but I wouldn't personally, it's so individual how much you will grow once the milk comes in.
For fitting, Bravissimo. stay away form M&S and Mothercare. Also, are you sure about your size at the moment? There's some good fitting advice here: thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.fr/p/fitting-advice.html

I would have to disagree with the above poster ive found the M&S ones to be fab!

I have no opinion about their bras, I was talking about their fitting service, which a large number of Mumsnetters have found totally off.

John Lewis are good, I used their fitting service and nursing bras for two years with dc1.

I've ordered online (not very mobile atm) from both M&S and Figleaves and had to send the lot back because I can't work out my size.

I have a friend who runs an independent lingerie brand and she says that a lot of the current fitting advice can lead to discomfort - M&S use underbust measurement + 4" to come up with band size and some of the more upmarket brands e.g. Bravissimo use underbust measurement rounded to the nearest even number to come up with it. So there's a big range in terms of the "right" fit. The only consistent advice in pregnancy I've found is that, post-birth, the ribcage will contract a bit (band size will reduce) and as milk comes in, breasts will get bigger (cup size will increase).

Have decided to go with one or two bras that cover a couple of sizes each and are designed to stretch for now, then I'll sort out a few more once things settle down post birth.

I've had a recommendation for the Fast Food bra by BOOB Designs (don't like the name much) or any Bravo maternity bra. Have just ordered some bravos from Nursing Bra Shop. Another recommendation - they seem to have a really good range, plus free delivery and a 45 day returns period. Crossing everything that this will finally get me sorted, with no more returning stuff.

I used to fit maternity bras at a boutique, do not trust M&S with your boobs!

Bravissimo are about the best but most places that fit with tape measures are very inaccurate and we were trained to fit by eye.

The most gorgeous and supportive nursing bras are Hot Milk ones. They also do a range of pjs and lacey nighties that unclip at the boob for night feeds.

Hope that helps!

I bought some soft ones (almost like crop tops, but with hooks for nursing)before DD was born from M&S, fitted on the loosest hook, so that they can be fastened tighter once baby was born and ribs etc start to shrink back. I bought them at 37 weeks with a cup size bigger so that I could get a breast pad in.

These were basically what I lived in for the first couple of weeks and were comfy for sleeping in.

After a few weeks, once my milk had come in and I felt I was the size I was going to be I was properly fitted for nursing bras in John Lewis - excellent service, fit and bras.

I am doing the same this time round.

I rated Hotmilk bras when nursing last time but only once things had settled down a bit. They're so expensive so I wanted to wait to make sure I was still feeding and could get decent wear out of them. I did love the nursing pjs tho - cami or pj top with clips and soft, stretchy bottoms. Super comfy and worth the money.

Nursing Bra Shop has some Hotmilk at good prices too - am going to treat myself in a month or two. I'm not on commission btw (!). I just got so fed up with paying £3.95 an order p&p for Figleaves that the range they have + free delivery is a real tempter.
