Itchy achy bump

I'm 35+4 weeks and my bump is sooooo itchy! When I do itch it, it really stings and the itch doesn't go away. It's also very tender to touch in places. There's even a patch which has no feeling at all, I can touch it and feel nothing. Is this normal? I have a really big bump and my skin feels really stretched although I have no stretch marks so it must be elasticy if that makes sense Blush I do put moisturiser on my bump everyday but it's starting to get really painful.

I feel your pain! I'm 38wks today and the unbearable itching started about 6wks ago. Find calamine lotion an absolute blessing - wipe a really good layer over your whole tummy and wait for it to dry. You'll have a crusty white tum but the relief is very good. Cheap too!

Are you itchy anywhere else? It may be worth giving your midwife a call as sometimes (although not always) it can be a sign of obstretic Cholestis (not sure if that is spelt correctly though!)

Nope no itching anywhere else just bump big round bump. I'm seeing my midwife Monday so I'll mention it too her. Thanks

I've had this for a while and it definitely appears related to when my bump is growing. No stretch marks here either. I was recommended to try Neals Yard mama cream but I've also found the Sanctuary collagen rich cream works a treat. Id been using cocoa butter since before the birth and this just wasn't giving enough moisturiser to ease the itch. I don't think you need the expensive stuff I've been using-they were gifts-but any rich moisturiser/body butter should work. And I've no idea about the numbness when it is also itchy....I've got the same and just put it down to the stretching

Seems like it's nothing to worry about then thank you. I'll just apply my moisturiser more often and buy a better one at weekend. Smile
