Baby Showers - How many weeks

Hi ladies,
DP mother suddenly announced last weekend that she is definitely throwing a baby shower for me (she is always up for an excuse to have a bit of fun or do something).
She has asked me at what stage/weeks they are usually held however neither of us has been to one so we have no clue!
Any ideas? Smile

I would say about 4 weeks before baby is due

Nolim · 09/04/2015 12:35

I dont know but 4 weeks before due date may be too late if the baby is premature.

Friends did mine at 36 weeks, I'd say any time from 34 weeks.
Our friends shower was scheduled for 35 weeks and baby arrived that wkend so had to reschedule for after the baby and mum were well enough and home from hospital (mum was sick too)

Thanks ladies! I'll let her know, it should be a laugh as she does like to go all out.
If anything there will be lots of yummy food!
I doubt it will be a big present thing as we see them all the time, I think she just wants to call it a baby shower!! Grin
No idea who will be coming either, I'll leave that to her!!

Mine will be at 32 weeks, but the only reason it is so early is because my NCT classes are on a Saturday for the next 2 weeks and then a couple of weddings (close to home.... just going to wear a tent and eat ALL the food). I am at risk of having a preemie due to a short cervix so didn't want to leave it too late.

My friends are super excited about arranging mine, I am being left out of all arrangements now and have been told to sit quietly and gestate.

An American friend of mine who now lives in the UK held her baby shower about 2 months before her baby was due. She now wants to throw one for me (which I am a little unsure about, tbh) and she is looking at a similar timeframe for me. Don't know if that helps.

Mine is at 35 weeks.
Sisters organising it.

I'm just going to turn up, and sit in the corner whilst my aunts no doubt regal the party of stories of when I was wee!

applecore0317 · 09/04/2015 14:42

Mine is this weekend, labelled as an afternoon tea rather than a shower :) will be 33+3, same as happygojo risk of prem due to short cervix, which is why it's a little earlier

irishamy89 · 09/04/2015 14:44

Haha comeagain that sounds like a good idea. I think I will do that too! I'm sure there will be lots of stories and baby pics of DP and his siblings. DP family are quite English middle class but up for a laugh. The rest of his extended family are more reserved so I don't know how that mix will work. I think I'll just sit and eat Grin.

Mmm applecore afternoon tea sounds great. You're making me hungry (And as I type I'm in a London cafe eating a ciabatta haha). Grin

I'm English but living in the USA. My friends are throwing me a baby shower in a couple of weeks, when I'll be 32 weeks. That was their suggested timeframe and from other friends it seems about normal.

Caterina99 · 09/04/2015 16:09

Actually I'll be 33 weeks - I can't count!
