Due to useless GP and then useless midwide was too far along for my nuchal scan and screening yesterday at 14+1

I went along for my nuchal scan and screening and had been reassured that at 14+1 this was not too late even thought I had my doubts. As I suspected the sonographer said the babies measurements were too big to do the nuchal scan and therefore no use doing the bloods that are linked to that.

I now have a quad blood test on Friday instead which isn't as accurate, am now worried anyone else had this and all has been well? I did read this morning that they do check again for spina bifda and downs features at your 20 week scan?

Anroga

It makes sense to wait for quad test results to decide.

Mship

Are your dates by period or by scan? Since you come and go just outside the range suitable for NT scan, maybe your dates by the scan would actually fall within the range?

anroga · 09/04/2015 15:35

Yep thats my plan Daluze you have to take a deep breath sometimes and tell yourself to get a grip don't you!

Are your dates by period or by scan?

By early scan. I had some possible symptoms of ectopic pregnancy and had my hcg levels monitored for a few days, then a scan. All was fine, but the scan showed me at 5 weeks as opposed to LMP which would have put me at 7. My cycle has been all over the place lately so I wasn't surprised.

anroga best of luck with your test results, sorry I've hijacked your thread a bit. Since we can't do Wine, have a virtual Brew of your choice on me.

Thanks Mship looking forward to getting these damn bloods done tomorrow and then the results x oh don't worry about it glad you have found it useful, would LOVE a wine right now instead of the glass of semi skimmed milk I am drinking ha ha!

Anroga, I'm sure one glass of wine will make you more good than bad! Take care of yourself and I hope the wait for results is not too long!

Hi Girls

Well had the quad test done on Friday with a very nice reassuring nurse who I am sure said if you are high risk you will get a phone call in about 3 days time if you do not hear from us by Wednesday (yesterday) you will just get a letter in the post in about 10 days time saying you a low risk SO hoping no news is good news!

Does this sound about right to you?

yep - whilst i had the nt screening, that was exactly what happened in terms of notification. i spent the next 5 days glued to my phone, and it is amazing just how many "number withheld" PPI calls you get. i was about ready to murder them.

if it helps, i had the bloods taken on thu 19 and got my letter on fri 27, so fairly quick. i was worrying the whole time, but my friend pointed out that, if they do find something to be worried about, they don't hang around, they get you in. so basically, no news is good news, and it sounds as if you are through that window! fingers crossed for a great letter for you.

anroga · 16/04/2015 11:04

Oh Scarednob tell me about it. My mobile has been sat next to my keyboard all week and all those PPI calls that I usually ignore I have answered on the first ring!

Yeah thats what I thought it is was bad news I think I would of heard by now.

Thanks for another reassuring message!

Hey anroga, did you hear back? Hoping it's good news!

anroga · 23/04/2015 09:36

Hi TheMship yes I did and it was good news, got a letter on Monday to say I am low risk with a result of 1 in 9100 so a big relief.

I had my 16 week appointment with the midwife yesterday which went well blood pressure fine, urine fine etc plus got to hear my babies heartbeat which was nice and strong.

On cloud 9 today!

How are you doing?

TheMshipIsBack · 23/04/2015 11:19

anroga Congratulations! That's a wonderful relief. Hearing the heartbeat is lovely. I never got tired of that when pregnant with DS.

I'm ticking over nicely, 7+2 and into the tiredness and a bit of nausea but it's not bad so far. Much more relaxed this time around, with my first I was a bag of nerves until the first scan. This time I've got both work and DS (almost 3!) to keep my mind off things. I've been posting on the December babies thread when I need a little baby time.

anroga · 23/04/2015 11:37

Yeah big relief and more re-assurance that everything is Aok yesterday hearing the heartbeat again. I am sure I will be the same love hearing it!

That is great to hear, your an old pro at it now Mship! The tiredness it unbelieveable isn't it, I am still like that at the end of a working day and in the mornings!

Good luck with your first scan not long now :)

Thanks Smile I've got my booking in appt in 2 weeks, and a bit under 4 weeks to go till the scan. I was exhausted from 6 weeks with DS, it's still pretty early this time but I'm hopeful the 1st tri symptoms won't be as bad. Quite interested in the Harmony test results. DH wants to keep gender a surprise, but I'm tempted to find out.

anroga · 23/04/2015 12:22

We are finding out I am too impatient! Grin

Our 20 week scan is 18th of May so not too long to wait!
