I woke up about 2am with bad shooting pains across my lower abdomen/ bump. Phoned the labour ward and they said take paracetamol, wait an hour and then come in if still there - which they were, so I did.

Went in, they checked urine (fine), BP (high but then it would be!), baby heartbeat (159) and did an examination - said cervix was closed and in normal position and tummy was soft.

Conclusion = who knows but can go home!

I was wondering if anyone else had had anything like this pain. It was more stabby than crampy (didn't feel period like) but did come and go. Made no difference if lying down or walking around. Was painful to the point of having to stop walking when a wave of pain hit.

I feel better today but a bit of pain and obviously exhausted - cheering myself up with an Easter Egg breakfast, not the relaxing weekend I wanted!!

This happened to me yesterday too!

I am 27 + 3 and ate a take away curry on Saturday night which may / may not have given me a bad tum and the associated stomach cramps. I thought I recognised them as tummy cramps rather than anything baby related but being a first time mum, immediately panicked and called the hospital who asked me about movement etc, which I couldn't remember accurately as I had been sleeping in etc so panicked even more... They asked me to come in as a precaution and I ended up sobbing at the hospital delivery ward triage midwife about 15 minutes later!

I had the same treatment as you - checked everything was ok (it was) and monitored my baby for 20 minutes but I am sure that was to reassure me more than for any medical reason! They were absolutely lovely and I did feel a bit silly and like I had wasted their time once they told me everything was ok, but the midwife reassured me that that is what they are there for and I should not think twice about calling if I have concerns etc as it is always best to check.

I struggle with anxiety anyway which I know made it worse but I was so reassured by the lovely midwives and nurses at the hospital and I feel so much better and less anxious about labour and childbirth now as they are so kind... Like you - not the relaxing weekend I was hoping for but I am also finding consolation in Easter Egg breakfasts!

Hope you are feeling better now! Smile Flowers

Yes I had it then and it was round ligament pain pulling my uterus on one side. I saw a chiropractor and its gone now.

Hi Hippymama - sorry you had a bad day/ night too, such a worrying time. I hope you're feeling better today. And I hate the fetal movement questions as you start doubting yourself!

My pain is there on and off today but am figuring its not labour or anything dreadful as something else would have happened by now. Paracetamol is not doing much - but then it didn't for my headache the other day either!

Did you just see midwives? I had to wait ages for a doctor, she said I needed to see a doctor as I was 23 weeks but I didn't really question why. Now I am wondering why. I know viability is 24 weeks.

Tranquility baby - I'm hoping it's that!

I'm much better today thank you! Baby is wriggling away like normal too... Thank goodness! Grin

To be honest I was in such a state I didn't ask whether the lady was a doctor or a midwife! Confused It was first thing yesterday morning so pretty quiet too - I went straight in and didn't have to wait. My pains carried on for a while after I got home but then (sorry if it's tmi) I had a bad tum later in the day and it is much better today - no more pains.

I've had since ligament pain too - has always been on the side near my hip bones rather than anywhere else and usually comes on when I've been walking... Don't know if that sounds more like your pains?

If your are still having pains today give your midwife another call... I'm sure they will be able to put your mind at rest... Flowers

This sounds silly, but wind. Wind can, especially in pregnancy, can give you pains like you wouldn't believe. Even if you don't feel like you need to fart or burp! In fact I've known people to say that at the start of their labour, they actually thought it was trapped wind.

I had a very similar thing caused by a cyst on my ovary, ended up disappearing on it's own but labour ward also told me that the ligament pain can be very unpleasant and is common at that stage, hope you're feeling better soon x
