I'm Single 46 - father lives away abroad - we are more friends than soul mates. I've not got a support network nearby, in fact no one I could tell without negative comments or the wtf !!! .... ... been through abusive relationship & just got life back track, with a big mortgage !! I'm really stuck in dilemma mode - NOT upset NOT happy, just need to chat xx

Congrats! It can really be a shock! What are your main concerns? What job do you do - would you get maternity pay? Have you told the father? What do you think you want to do? Smile

Everyone no matter what their situation panics when they get that positive result whether it's planned or not or 1st baby or 10th baby, it's very natural to wonder if you can do it, if you can afford it, how will your life change etc etc. Take each day as it comes don't make any hasty decisions speak to the Dad & see what his views are although it's ultimately your decision what you do. Good luck

diddy I'm going to say this as kindly and gently as possible.

I am delighted for you but you really are at the very very earliest stage of your pregnancy and once we get to our advanced maternal age the risk of miscarriage is at least 50%. You may be one of the lucky ones, and I pray you are. Please go into this with lots of hope but also with a good dose of realism.

I am saying this as someone in her 40s with three MC behind me in the last 12 months and a very old timer on the miscarriage and TTC over 40 boards. It's a war zone out there but like I said, you may be one of the lucky ones.

Massive hugs and hand holding xx

I also want to say this as gently as possible... Sometimes women test positive when they are peri-menopausal even though they aren't pregnant. Obviously it's not everyone but it isn't totally uncommon either. It may be worth going to the GP just to check that HCG levels are increasing.
