Am 23 weeks, and friend has scarlet fever. Should I avoid seeing her until she's better, or will it be ok?

oooooh yes I would avoid

It's more of an issue in late pregnancy as you could pass it on to the child when born. The NHS website says it's not likely to be an issue otherwise but i'd still avoid your friend as who wants to be ill during pregnancy?

It's no harm to you at this stage at all. And its a disease of childhood on the whole, most common in the under sixes, and unusual to contract as an adult. Its also less harmful to adults, its basically just a strep infection that is easily treatable with a simple antibiotic.

Its entirely up to you, but its not something you should be concerned about, pregnant or not.

It's actually not that conman in the UK anymore but it usually mild, does require antibiotics and it did used to be fatal back in the day. It is highly contagious I would avoid whether pregnant or not, my son had it and I caught it off him and it was not bloomin nice

DS just had it and I'm 8 weeks gone. I didn't catch scarlet fever but definitely got the strep throat from him which lasted a week and was grim. No risk to the baby according to the doctor but of course you can't take any good drugs and being ill when pregnant sucks. Definitely avoid if you can!

I'm 35 weeks and my DD who is 6 has scarlet fever. Dr says no risk although it will be unpleasant if I catch it. Poor DD is really suffering so I would avoid
