Hi all,
I'm new so please be kind :)
I'm 37 + 5 pregnant with 1st baby, booked in for planned c section in 9 days (seriously can't get here quick enough) as high risk (disabled).
Have been having BH for 6 weeks now, but for the past week have been getting quite evil and have had false labour 3 times in past 11 days - worst being 2 nights ago when we spent a few hours in hospital with cramps every 10 mins (I have to go into hospital as soon as it all starts because of c section) to be sent home to take paracetamol and monitor as baby boy wasn't quite engaged enough for it to be labour.
I'm quite slender so uncomfortable doesn't even begin to describe it and I also have SPD.
Today I have been doing some housework (sooooo much to do) and I've had period pain all sodding morning with strong irregular BH. Have been to loo twice (2's)
My question is this (finally!) How sodding long is it going to feel like this before labour actually starts?? I don't want to keep wasting the hospitals time and we do want to hold on til the c section date next week, but I really want this to be over and I keep feeling the 'is this labour??' Feeling but it's a bit like I have "the body that cried labour".
Any advice if it sounds like it's imminent at all? I've had no showing, water's still in tact, totally knackered...
Thanks peeps :) x

Usually the hospital wouldn't recommend you go in until contractions are 5 mins apart and lasting 30 seconds or more.

I know it's hard with a planned c-section (i'm the same!) as you cannot risk going in to labour and leaving it too long.

I would assume that you are not going to go in to proper labour before your c-section, although they have booked you in pretty close to the mark on your due date.

You could ask to push forward a week to 38?

Braxton hicks really can feel like labour, but trust me, you will know when it's real.

Hiya, yeah I double checked with my midwife & she said not to wait til the normal 5 min gap but to go as soon as I think I'm in labour which is at least twice a day atm!
I am tempted to try and bring it forward, but we need all the time we can get before he comes to get everything ready (not that I think we're ever going to be ready!) It feels really catch 22 :(
How are you feeling with yours? Number 3 is it? I tip my hat to you for doing this 3 times - never again for me! X

I feel fine, I am 24+3 so at the stage where I am still comfortable and not suffering! I am sure my time will come ha!

Yes, 2 c-sections already, my other children are slightly older, so know what I am letting myself in for but also feels a bit new again!

I would probably try and leave the contractions running a bit longer before calling them, as long as they aren't getting stronger and stronger and closer together you will be fine. If in doubt, call for advice.

Lol :) ah yes - the 2nd trimester "this isn't too horrendous" feeling :D
Thanks for the advice - will do - I think my husband will appreciate it if we don't end up going on endless trips to the hospital before he comes! :)
X

It's always the countdown that's the most mentally painful bit! You are so close to meeting your baby, don't worry, it will happen, just fingers crossed not before your c-section date.

A planned C-section is so much nicer than a rushed emergency one x

JoRichardson35 · 01/04/2015 10:52

Thanks :) fingers & toes crossed! ;)
Yep I'd much rather go with the planned c section rather than emergency - much more relaxed way of doing it & I can plan stuff around it lol x
