20 weeks preg and bumped my belly, will it be ok?

I'm such an airhead at the mo. I was wondering if anyone here can give me their experiences and advice.
I managed to walk into the end of a big metal rail which acts as handle type thing for a ramp leading up to a prefab classroom.
I just wasn't looking where i was going and wandered straight into it. My belly hurt of course, I think it's ok, but now I'm absolutely paranoid that I've damaged the baby and might lose the preg.
I just wanted to know if there were other belly bumpers and bashers out there who have come through this sort of thing unscathed. Thanks

Someone slammed a door into my tummy when I was about the same stage. Scared the life out of me but the bab (dd aged 3 yrs now!) was fine. Don't forget your baby is floating around in a big cushion of water, nice and snuggly. Obviously if you start getting any pain or bleeding call your midwife straight away but honestly I'm sure you'll be fine.

I'm not sure socci as it doesn't move that regularly anyway. Perhaps I should have a little lie down and see if I can feel something.

Kitty, have replied on the March 2007 thread - provinding you have movement and no bleeding etc you should be ok. Hope to catch up properly soon XXXXXX

danceswiththedevil · 31/10/2006 16:20

baby not bab..

danceswiththedevil · 31/10/2006 16:21

good idea. Drink some ice cold water first, can help to make them move (so mw told me!)

As a fairly accident prone person while not pregnant I can't count the times I fell up the stairs, down the stairs, tripped, slipped, and bumped into things. When ds was born dh told me that I couldn't go up or down stairs with him until I proved that I wouldn't fall. A year later he still cautions me not to fall down.

I had a similar experience when the tube barriers slammed shut on my stomach. I was worried but everything was fine. There is another thread (quite a long one) somewhere else on MN on this subject, if you can find it. Anyway I am sure the midwife wouldn't mind listening to the hearbeat just to put your mind at rest. Good luck - I'm sure everything will be OK.

justaphase · 31/10/2006 17:19

I will not tell you about my experience (sorry, I know this is not what you want to hear) but best have it checked out to be on the safe side.

lulumama · 31/10/2006 17:51

i think it can be an issue if you have rhesus antibodies....vague about this..but if you have rhesus issues...best to go and be checked out...will put your mind at rest..

fell very badly with DS. ended up in hospital over night...but he is 7 now!!!!!! get checked out if you can...you will feel better...!

Thanks for all your kind replies. I have felt the baby move this evening and I have no pain or bleeding/fluid loss. I am due a scan on Thursday so hopefully they will be able to show that things are ok. I will let you know
