The list of problems I've had during this pregnancy seems endless. Early Scares, SPD, high blood pressure & anemia. Now I've got awfully swollen feet and ankles. They're not painful but they seem to be getting bigger every day and I can barely get my shoes on. Thank God I've only got 10 weeks left. Anyone got any tips??

Get your bp checked and your urine dipped fir protein. Is anything else swollen? Is your face puffy? If you don't have a mw appt due go along to your Gp with your urine sample and ask to see the practice Nurse. Don't wait over the Easter bank holidays. Pre eclampsia can come on suddenly And you don't always feel unwell until you are very ill.

No nothing at all. Face, fingers. Completely fine but my feet are huge my work shoes are uncomfortable but not sore if you know what I mean. People have even commented. I'm worried now.

I had this, can't remember when it started but I looked down at very swollen feet an awful lot. Advice I got was to elevate them as much as possible, even on a stool under my work desk, and rest where possible.

Are you waking a lot? My commute of an hour walking, train and tube each way did my feet in I'm sure

Ps I bought a pair of, admittedly, rather unattractive fit flops with just two thick soft straps over the front of your foot (the glamour eh). Not trying to squeeze them into normal shoes felt better and more comfy

I walk about to work and back each day which is about 3 miles in total but I do walk a lot in work. Oh God, I might have to get myself a pair ha ha. All I want is comfort right now. I wish I could just stay in my slippers. They get worse throughout the day.

I think your employer has to be flexible too, am guessing your risk assessment was in advance of this. Perhaps you could work from home once a week? I was encouraged to update H&S with any change in circumstance, and they then advised (so it wasn't like I was actually asking for any favours).

I can't work from home I'm a lab tech. I only have 8 days left in work but I'm trying to make them as easy as poss as I'm struggling.

That's not too long, though I'm sure it doesn't feel it. Hope you and your ankles get through unscathed! Hope Mat leave is lovely and relaxing Smile

Awww thanks I'll just get myself some attractive shoes lol. To see me through the next 10 weeks.

I've been getting this - queue lots of comments from everyone - 'you must be careful! That's not normal!'

My midwife says it is normal, provided your BP and urine is monitored and you get checked out if you suddenly feel 'weird' at any point. I've had high BP too so have been chilling out as much as I can. I sleep with my feet elevated at night.

I was told by mw to drink as much as I can (aim for clear pee) as your body will see no need to retain fluid if you are really really well hydrated. It does seem to work! On days when my pee is yellow, my feet are gross!

Foot massages from DH are hard to come by but if your partner is more forthcoming than mine then that works a treat too, and will probably be great for your BP!!

I've also found taking the dog for a walk helps. I suppose the movement pushes the fluid back up.

It's so uncomfortable and depressing though :-(
