I know that too much is defo a bad idea, but for those who have given up completely, did you have a doctor tell you to cut it out or was it a personal choice? I'm currently 6 weeks and I cannot for the life of me stop that first morning cup of coffee. The rest if the day, i have no problem staying away. Is it really linked to early misscarriages?

I had stopped and was just drinking decaf tea but then was advised by my doctor to drink caffeine to help my low blood pressure which leaves me breathless and faint. I have probably 2 cups of tea or 3 on a bad day. No coke or coffee as I don't drink them anyway. Anyway, I'm 32 weeks and baby is fine and healthy. X

I have generally avoided it but some days you just need a coffee and so I have one - although there is definitely more foetal activity after it.
Regarding the posts suggesting that the child may become addicted to caffeine and need it after the birth - well if the mother breast feeds this won't be a problem for the child as it will still get a bit of caffeine from the mother's habit through her breast milk and then by the time you stop BF the baby will probably be getting some caffeine from other foodstuffs… So there won't really be any withdrawal… But that's my two cents

I stopped caffeine in pregnancy because of multiple previous miscarriages and high risk, so I was EXTREMELY cautious, I can see why most people wouldn't bother though.
