Food woes

Very fed up of being told I can't eat certain things by people who aren't doctors.

I've been eating meal deals lately as I don't have the biggest range of foods I will eat so I need to get calories where I can and I have people jumping down my throat 'you're not allowed them the nhs says so' the nhs just gives guidelines to what may pose a risk of certain things eg listeria so shut up

Plus my consultant said it's fine so I'll listen to them THANKS

Also - hummus you're allowed it in the uk it's safe infact it's classed as a very healthy snack with carrots or wholemeal pitta 'you can't have that in New Zealand it's dangerous' good job I live in England then!

Seriously if people carry on I'll end up stopping eating all together which is much worse for me and the baby than a sandwhich from boots/tesco etc

Tell them to mind their own business, they're not the pregnant ones!! At the end of the day, the NHS list is just 'guidelines', I'm not eating it while I'm pregnant, but I have never got sick from eating brie. It would probably be perfectly safe for me to eat, but there is a small risk. At the end of the day it is up to you whether you want to chance it or not.

I suffer from an eating disorder so I need to get my calories more now than ever, I'd never eat cheese sea food etc before getting pregnant but honestly if you look at all the 'guidelines' there's not much you can have! Its ridiculous and changes year to year!

Pregnancy might make my eating worse if this continues.

One of the first things my sister said to me when I got pregnant was that everyone will have an opinion about what I do/don't do, and I've not heard a truer thing said! she then proceeded to have an opinion about my continued gym trips...

I've read the guidelines, and am using my common sense. Yes, I'm carrying a precious baby etc etc, but I've also got to consider my own sanity, so my advice is to do what is right for you.

Ignore them I get told I should be eating more because I'm carrying twins or I should avoid certain drinks blah de blah. "Ok" as a response shuts them up. Oh and it only gets worse after you've had baby and you're introducing solids. It all starts up again with what you should and shouldn't feed YOUR child. People always like to stick their nose where it's not wanted but hey that's life I'm afraid
