SPD?

I'm 31 weeks and over the last few days have started with a pain around my pubic bone, like a sort of bruised feeling almost.

It seems worse when I've been sitting down a while, and yesterday was the worst day for it; it hurt to walk, get up, sit down, etc.

Could it be SPD? I'm unsure as it doesn't seem as bad as other people describe it! But then I'm not sure if it'll just get steadily worse...

Certainly sounds like the start of it Sad

Sounds like it. I have the same and am only 20 weeks - I'm worried about how bad it might get... :(

Get yourself to the physio now before it gets any worse. They can do lots to help but the longer you leave it the harder it will be to treat. Take it easy and don't try to push yourself through the pain!

Can you self refer to physio or do you have to be sent by your midwife? I'm not due to see my midwife again until 2nd April, which sounds like bloody ages away! Or is it best to see my GP?

We do have a health scheme at work that I think covers physio so I might see if I can go through there.

If you can go private then do it. You need to make sure your seeing someone who specialises in spd/pgp. Otherwise you can probably self refer (I think it varies from area to area). Don't wait till you see your midwife. Time is of the essence with this sort of thing!

I've found a physio nearby that deals with SPD (a lot of their website and testimonials on there relate to pregnancy and pregnancy issues). They can't fit me in until a week on Monday but at least I've made an appointment Smile hoping they can fix me!

It sounds like you have it. I had it from 12 weeks and it was most painful at night, i had to get out of bed just to turn over!
I was referred to physio but they were rubbish, only seen once and was given a belt thing which only made it worse. I don't know about private physio but my experience with NHS wasn't good.
It's worth doing something about it if you can, my little one is 8 months now and I still get pain in my left hip from time to time

This physio I'm going to do a consultation session and then follow up appointments. If they're rubbish I'll try a different one!

It hasn't (touch wood) been as bad today. I went to my antenatal swimming class on Wednesday night and it felt bad after that and yesterday, so I'm not sure if that made it worse? I'd like to keep going as I really like it but I might give it a miss this coming week until I've seen the physio.

I've also got permission at work to sit on a gym ball, so hoping that might help a little bit!
