This is my wife's 12 week scan, Looking at the nub and skull do you think it's a boy or girl? All predictions most welcome :-)

Neither of us are that sure but last time we just knew it was a boy, the pregnancy has been different this time, the morning sickness hasn't been as bad and she hasn't experienced any cravings or sensitive sense of smell. I'm hoping for a girl but my wife isn't all that bothered either way.

Midwives say that you are sicker with girls, and that was true for me, but the only thing I have noticed in friends is that those with boys went through a spotty stage while pregnant, and those with girls did not. Not a very scientific study though, as a very small test group...Will you find out at the 20 week scan? If so please let us know! (is that far away?)

I've heard that it's the other way around and that the morning sickness is worse when having a boy. Her morning was really bad last time and we had a boy, this time it's not been no where near as bad, everything just seems different this time. I've been doing a lot of research into nub and skull theory and it really does look like it could be a girl, but obviously it could go either way.
We will be finding out the gender at the 20 week scan, there's no way I would be able to wait till the birth to find out lol, the scan is about a month away ?? I'm counting the days and driving myself mad with it lol.

That has made me laugh. I found out at my 20 week ones too, more a confirmation of my feelings though, as I'd already gone and bought girl's things, feeling certain that I was having a girl. It is nice having a surprise half way through anyway, as at the birth just the shock of a whole new person emerging from one's body is enough of a surprise in iteself! Please come back and let us all know what the sex is when you do find out. I feel excited for you now.

I'd also say it's the opposite way round, but everyone carries differently! I'm currently 35 weeks expecting a baby boy. My early symptoms was lower back pain to the point where I thought I had a kidney infection, extremely heightened sense of smell, and then I had sickness and nausea which lasted from the minute I woke up until the minute I went to sleep, for around the first 17/18 weeks. I had to take nearly 3 weeks off from work too!
But my mum was similar when she was carrying my brother, she says.
I'm also a lot more 'up front' than putting on much weight anywhere else, which they say happens with boys, although I have known of a few ladies who have carried girls and been more up front, so like I say, everyone's different!

Oh and I'll add, from even before I had the 12 week scan (although I did have an early scan at around 7 weeks) I was 99.9% certain I was having a boy. In fact, I just felt I 'knew' it was a boy and that was that! So I also wanted to confirm my feelings! Grin

I will definitely let you know when we find out. Yeah the pregnancy does seem different this time but of course that could mean nothing so I'm not getting my hopes up either way, just wish I could find out now lol.

Yeah my wife had all those symptoms when she was carrying our son but hasn't had that this time, so hopefully that's an indication of a girl, plus I'm pretty convinced that the nub in the scan picture looks very girly.

I just went by first thoughts on seeing your photo rather than looking into the nub and skull theory, so will be interesting to find out when you know!
A healthy baby is all that matters but I'm sure you know that Grin
One of my colleagues had a boy a couple of years ago and her pregnancy now is very different from last time she says, and she's recently found out she's having a girl Smile

webbswonder · 19/03/2015 11:47

As long as it's healthy then yeah I will be very happy, but of course a lot of us have preferences and I've always wanted a daughter so I would be over the moon if it did turn out to be a girl. What was it about the pic that made you think girl if you weren't going by the nub or skull? :-)

Anybody else want to make a prediction? :-)

How lovely. I'm wishing your wife the best of luck with the birth. I'm also pleased I was right. Grin (I seem to have a knack of guessing the sex of babies, I've only been wrong once). Come back and post a picture when she is born!
