NCT nearly new sale - what type of bargains should I look out for?

Hello ladies

I was wondering if you have any recommendations on the type of things I should look out for at an NCT nearly new sale? I'm going to one next weekend but haven't got my head round buying anything for our baby yet ( currently 23weeks) We're lucky enough to already have a hand-me-down Moses basket, baby bath, cot and newborn clothes.

Thanks!

I always go for clothes in larger sizes than we need. If you see something you like, buy it at the sale as you will be unlikely to see it again. Look at all age rails, but think about the season your baby will be in when they reach that age.

That said, there will be other sales between now and when your baby arrives, and then after they are here, so no need to hurry, especially if you haven't got your head round it yet.

Good luck with everything.

We got an inflatable baby seat thing for going swimming at an NCT sale. I wouldn't have bought one new, but it was useful. A friend picked up stairgates, which I thought was a really good idea, although you hopefully won't be needing them for a little while yet.

Don't buy newborn clothes. You'll get given those as gifts. Look for the 'biggies' - pushchair, high chair, etc.

If there's a jumperoo for less than £35 or a bumbo for less than £10 then take it. That's about what they go for on local selling sites.

I agree about the baby swim seat-they always seem to have those-plus those activity centre mat things. Quite expensive new for what they are but usually in decent condition at the sales. Snowsuits also good

if u are planning on breast feeding - a feeding pillow

sling

activity mat

grobag

Cloth nappies if you are considering using them. I have been buying/selling/volunteering at our local NCT NNS for 6 years - there is always a set of barely used cloth nappies.

Otherwise "big ticket" items that you'll need in the first year. A Tripp Trap highchair (or Tripp Trapp alike) would be great, but bear in mind that the next-best highchair in the world is commonly considered to be the ikea Antilop chair that only costs about £15 new anyway.

Pram

Stroller/lightweight buggy

YY to Bumbo and Jumperoo

Grobags (check size and tog rating)

Sling

Decent waterproofs if you are outdoorsy.

Clothes

There are NCT nns every spring and autumn, so you'll always have the opourtunity to look for age/weather appropriate stuff at the appropriate time.

Thanks ladies!

I feel that we haven't done enough research to know what we want in a pram yet and I think we're going to do quite well in terms of hand me down clothes, but you've given me lots of other things to think about! :-)
