Just as my title states really. Haven't kept anything down all weekend and am panicking as tomorrow my DH is back at work and it will just be me and 18 month DS. With DS I was sick every single day of my pregnancy, awfully for the first 4 months. Any tips or advice on shaking this sickness off? Or just tales of better pregnancies second time around to keep my hopes up?

I wasn't sick at all with my first but was bad in this pregnancy Til about 17 weeks, which was pretty crap with a 7 month old at the time.

I went to the doctors and was prescribed some anti sickness tablets. Didn't totally get rid of the feeling crap but most definitely made the day about manageable.
Def worth a trip as it's awful when you can't just rest up because of a toddler. Good luck and hope you manage to get some help!

I found with my first, it always related to blood sugar and when it dropped slightly, that's when I got sick. So I learned how to keep it level which means eating little and often, eating extra when I've done any exercise and eating things which are show release- so avoiding a sugar hit which sorts it out short term but make me feel much worse afterwards.
I have a diabetic friend who described it as like trying to keep a pot of water at the same temperature, never letting it boil over or drop. I didn't have any awareness of my own blood sugar until morning sickness made my body really responsive to it.

Failing that, do you have anyone you can draught in for support?

Sorry to hear that you're feeling unwell!
I'm 35 weeks with my first, and from around 5/6 weeks, before I had found out I was expecting, I felt like I had glandular fever (which I've had before and wouldn't wish on anyone!).
My lower back was aching really bad, so I thought I had a kidney infection, but at the back of my mind I did think I could be pregnant, but because of how bad I felt I thought I must have some sort of bad illness as well!
I had no energy and although I hadn't started being sick, I had nausea that lasted from the minute I woke up until the minute I went to sleep! I used to cry because I just didn't know what to do to ease it.
I took 2 and a half weeks off from work on the sick, with a letter from my doctor, but it did carry on lasting up until around 16/17 weeks.
I thought I was going to be one of those people that had it all the way through Confused
I could barely eat a thing and did lose weight. I was physically sick probably most days, once or twice. It was just trial and error with foods. I feel like I just lived on volvic water lemon and lime flavour, and those Mcvities cheese flavour biscuits.

I was convinced I had HG as I couldn't keep anything down other than bits and pieces, but after going to the doctor they said as long as I can keep fluids down, mainly water, than they weren't that concerned, as in the early days, fluids count for more than food does. With HG they would only hook you up to a drip, so as long as you can keep fluids down, try not to worry (although that's hard and I should know!)
You could try milk as a more filling fluid, or a fruit smoothie.
Hope you start to feel better soon!

Oh and congratulations!

Pregnancy Sickness Support

Rosieliveson · 17/03/2015 16:18

Thank you all. I've not done too badly over the past few days. I've been really sick but have also managed to get DS out for some fresh air each day (with the help of sick bags Confused)
I've not got anyone living nearby who can help out really. DH is a godsend at the moment and has taken over everything other than the working hours with DS so I can rest and vomit in peace.
