Hi
I'm just wondering so I can make some comparisons.
Expecting ds2 soon. With ds1 I did have cravings but this one I'm eating breakfast thinking about snack, eating a snack thinking about lunch. Basically eating lots more.
That I'm not so worried about as I'm a size 8-10 but I'm craving sweet things all the time.
I do have a good home cooked healthy meal in the evenings but breakfast is a BIG bowl of Special K ( which I know has a lot of sugar) , I'm eating biscuits! Lots of them and daily chocolate, sweets etc.
my ds1 was born late and only 5lb6oz and apparently I'm likely to have another small baby this time according to the consultant however am wondering should I just go with what my body is craving or try to curb my cravings and stop eating the crap altogether ( or try to)

I don't drink anything other than water, decaf tea and fizzy water mixed with juice but again have been craving coke!!
Interested to hear from others . I'm thinking I may need to
Try to curb it a bit.
Midwife said that by eating more it won't necessarily mean I'll have a bigger baby!
Thanks

I just had a chip butty with curry sauce for tea....so, not very good xD especially considering i have nasty acid all the friggin time between the monsterous amounts of yogurt, scrambled egg and cereal/porridge that gets chucked in there.
As long as your not living off junk, it really doesnt matter, just eat and enjoy what your eating provided that its nothing that can harm baby, like outlined on the nhs website.

Crumbelina we're due similar time. I don't even like the nice bits of choosing stuff now and am stressed about £££
It's ideal just like the books say Wink

I'm not eating nearly as well as I should be and I feel terrible about it. I'm 30 weeks and seem to have hit the point where I'm constantly hungry but can't eat much at once. So I'm just snacking away, all the time, and relying way too much on convenience food.

Plus the fact that I keep feeling faint every morning and having to reach for something sugary doesn't help.

Poor bub will probably be born with a severe Greggs addiction at this rate...

weeblueberry · 13/03/2015 09:18

I'm eating less but what I am eating is very unhealthy. Had a particularly bad day the other day with a bowl of cereal, fried all day breakfast for lunch, wad of cake in afternoon, entire bag of mini caramel eggs to myself on drive to pick up toddler Blush and then massive plate of spag bol for dinner. And it barely touched the sides.

Most days though I'm trying to counter a very unhealthy meal or 'binge' with a healthy rest of day.

It doesn't always go according to plan though. Envy I'm 38 weeks and gained two stone so we'll see how much is baby in a few weeks lol.

scatterbrainedlass · 13/03/2015 09:33

Some of you sound so healthy!! I'm 7+1 and like carbs right now. Fruit and veg are a struggle, though had soup yesterday and really enjoyed it, so that's going to be a regular. I just want stuff like chips, white bread, crumpets, mash...

blowinahoolie · 13/03/2015 12:14

Diet has been terrible, really. I am trying my best to eat well, but eating crisps once DC are off to school each morning, just snacking because I'm getting the peace to do so. I don't get that at weekends though. It's just during the week.

I have time to adjust my eating habits, not half way yet. I don't want to put on 3 st like the past two times.

SunnyR · 13/03/2015 12:38

I go through phases. Can have a few 'good' days of salads, fruit and cereal etc but then a few very bad days! Like today, I have eaten a yoghurt, banana, triple sandwhich, bag of crisps and a snicker and its only lunchtime!
But I too am still a 8-10 at 18 weeks, I guess its because I am not eating like this every single day! Plus I aim for 3 or 4 30min walks a week to balance it all!

dinodiva · 13/03/2015 13:25

Mine has not been that different from usual really. I haven't gone off anything, nor have I had any crazy cravings other than just been constantly hungry.

I'm definitely eating more - I've never been one for snacking, but really need to now! I find if I keep fruit/nuts/oatcakes in my desk drawer then that works okay - it's better for me to have something healthy handy. Other meals are mostly the same, although I'm inhaling my food at an alarming rate at the moment!

I'm working on the assumption that as I'm no longer drinking, that must offset the extra calories going in!

avocadotoast · 13/03/2015 13:43

weeblueberry I think the average weight gain is 2 stone, so I wouldn't worry too much Smile

misssmilla1 · 13/03/2015 14:51

Up until about 10 weeks I was craving white carbs, and totally off certain foods, but it's eased off and now back on the fruit and some vegetables, but I will only eat the veggies if someone else cooks them. The prospect of cooking green veg makes me want to hurl for some reason.

My sweet tooth seems to have subsided a bit, I'm still eating cake and sweets but nothing tastes quite right, aside from a frys cream chocolate bar, which was amazing.

The rest of the time I'm managing a relatively balanced diet, altho I seem to have an affinity for crisps but they give me terrible indigestion! Would give my right arm right now for fat chips and garlic mayo...

StrawberryCheese · 13/03/2015 15:10

Interesting that so many of us are needing crisps in our life during the first trimester. I usually wouldn't touch crisps as I have more of a sweet tooth, but now I'm off chocolate.

I love fruit and veg but at the moment it's more the reluctance to prepare and cook it than eat it. Tricky when your DH works shifts and you have to fend for yourself. Red grapefruits are my friends right now.

Poppytime · 13/03/2015 15:52

Glad to read this thread! I'm around 11 weeks now with DC2 and eating rubbish! Cravings for warm carby stuff like toasted crumpets with butter. Cakes as well are featuring... I wish I was eating more healthily as I am hardly doing any exercise - no time with work and DD to look after plus am exhausted all the time! We have time to work all this out post baby right?! ConfusedWink

BleachedBarnet · 13/03/2015 16:07

I'm a bit different to most of you here (and also in the very very early stages - 5 weeks today) in that I actually ate very badly pre-pregnancy. I would say that at times in my past I have come close to having binge eating disorder, and although I'm still a healthy size and weight, over the past 2 years I very quickly gained 2 stone, which really shows when you're 5"2...

Weirdly, although I have no symptoms yet, pretty much the only noticeable change is a complete loss of appetite. I have done a big healthy shop and look forward to getting lots of veg/fruit in but honestly when it all arrived this morning I just felt like it was all going to go to waste!

Is it normal to lose your appetite without nausea being to blame?

OMC1 · 13/03/2015 16:29

Every single day I vow to eat healthy and it's out the window by 8am.

Today I had my bowl of cereal, then a sausage sandwich, then two samosas a cupcake, two cookies and a bag of crisps. Eek.

I was super healthy before being pregnant and had actually shed about 4st, but I can feel it creeping on - trying not to be bothered though, because I can't help needing to eat all the time, even if I could make better choices!

Chillyegg · 13/03/2015 16:35

....so no one else has an emergency chocolate bar in their bag?

I eat loads of fruit Try to be healthy but the need for a nice sweet yummy treat rears its head....ive had two donuts today

missybct · 13/03/2015 16:46

Weirdly enough, one of my first real symptoms (besides the absence of a period, but I have reasonably irregular cycles) was this snacking need - at home I'll snack, but I was picking at food before I'd even served it up - something I NEVER do since losing 7 stone. I was picking at everything and anything but feeling a bit icky too - I couldn't put my finger on it.

I'm about 6 weeks - found out on Monday. Been reasonably healthy since then, although first two days we had to make a big decision about whether it was the right time as my pregnancy is unplanned (but not unwelcome) and we were hoping to start trying after we got married - I hardly ate anything as I'm hopeless at eating when stressed.

misssmilla1 · 13/03/2015 18:10

I had cravings for jam donuts at 7 weeks, and I've not eaten one in years. It was bloody lovely, but then I had raging indigestion for 3 hours, so it stopped any more repeat purchases!

chilly there's always an emergency snack at the bottom of my handbag! For some reason, it's always skittles that keep me going when I'm out and about.

Current research is you only need to eat ~300 calories extra a day from the second trimester onwards, which isn't that much more; 2 bags of crisps or a bar and half of chocolate Shock

Chillyegg · 13/03/2015 18:32

Ooo skittles are a good choice they seem a bit more healthy because there little and fruit flavoured.

I also love anything spicy or pickle flavour.

misssmilla1 · 13/03/2015 19:08

yeah, until you read the calories, they're 240 a bag!! nearly fell off my chair, think I'd rather have a snickers, at least there's some protein in there from the peanuts Wink

hestialou · 13/03/2015 20:24

Trying but with sickness proves difficult. I just want my appettite back Sad

weeblueberry · 13/03/2015 21:15

....so no one else has an emergency chocolate bar in their bag?

Yeah mine doesn't really last long enough to be considered an 'emergency bar'. Blush
