Feeling faint all the time

Anyone else fainting or feeling faint all the time? Have had a few near misses where I have nearly fainted, usually because someone is standing and chatting to me and I can't get away without being rude!

Does anyone have any ways of coping as it is really limiting, feel unwell most of the day and am still working for a couple of months (27 weeks now)

How's your blood pressure? Mine is very low and I can't stand still for too long before coming over all funny (33weeks).
If it's that then drinking plenty should help and eating regularly seems to help too

I had this with DS1. You need to make sure you eat regularly, with lots of protein, even if you feel queasy and that you drink plenty. You've probably sussed that you need to stand up slowly and breathe a few times before you try walking. I also found warm air pretty triggering, so could be OK outside then go indoors and flake out.

It's horrible. I ended up going off sick at 16 weeks because of it, as I had a job where I needed to be on my feet a lot and have my wits about me. There were morning's when I made it into work and ended up lying down in the staffroom before giving up and going home again.

Have your iron levels checked, too. It turned out that mine were fine, but low iron can cause dizziness.

mornings!

bloody apostrophe, sneaking in there!

My BP is usually low, tends to be around 90/60. I work in a job which is mostly sitting but have to keep getting up every 10-15 mins. I'm not great at eating breakfast but have been trying to have something. Sports drinks seem to help but I try to avoid them.

Yep, I have a very low blood pressure, I sped my time feeling like I'm about to flake out.

Eating and drinking, slowly and deep breaths help a bit.

A really cold water or juice to sip and some snacks at hand are essential, nuts, crackers, fruit, things that are quite plain and easy to chew/digest help me.
Also ready salted crisps help, apparently salt in small does can help raise the blood pressure very slightly to make you feel a bit more normal.

I felt faint early in my pregnancy....well i actually fainted on the train on the way to work one morning...that night i did a pregnancy test and hey ho!

I was signed off work for 2 weeks with low blood pressure...iron levels were ok...i was just told to rest. After 2 weeks the dizziness and light headedness had gone but the constant heaving began :(. I am now 11+4 and been feeling good for the past week. Now i just have the stress of waiting for results of the cvs test.

To help with dizziness, eating regularly and drinking plenty...also if you feel like you are going to faint lie down and raise your legs....this helped me alot.

I'm 25 weeks and have been having dizzy spells and feeling feint (not actually feinted but have come close a few times). I have been advised by the midwife to go off work sick, I don't feel it's bad enough yet but will have to consider it if it gets worse or more frequent. This is DC2 and I never had this with my first pregnancy. I understand how limiting it can make everything and it's not a nice feeling at all!! Xx

THEworrywart · 11/03/2015 07:45

Yes. All the time I had his before pregnancy due to severely low blood pressure but now I'm pregnant it's even lower :( I'm on bed test because it was either that it hospitalise me with my BP and I can't bare the thought of just lying in hospital when in surrounded by doctors anyway.

Try eating and drinking more if possible.

avocadotoast · 11/03/2015 08:46

I have this on a morning. My blood pressure isn't low any more so I can't even pin it on that. I'm 30 weeks and I keep having to get off the bus a couple of stops early for fear of passing out, takes me so long to get to work!

Definitely keep a bottle of water with you all the time, and something to snack on. I must admit I've started carrying a bottle of Lucozade around with me too as it does help. As do Greggs sausage rolls but the less said about that the better

THEworrywart · 11/03/2015 08:47

Lucozade sport is one of the best drinks for it as it replenishes your electrolytes. I swear by it and my doctor told me to haha

silversixpence · 11/03/2015 09:05

Theworrywart sounds awful, poor you. I have never been advised bed rest or time off work but can manage the faint feeling enough to do most things.

I will keep a few bottles of lucozade sport at home as it definitely seems to help me too!
